2017 UFO Challenge of the Month
#2091
Woohoo! Looking forward to being onboard again for next year. This thread is such a great motivator
Beautiful finishes Kristakz, I don't think I could ever count on making a pieced border to fit that accurately and the blue colours are a perfect match.
That is some very special birch wood fabric too, I've never seen fabric like it - beautiful.
Happy New Year all

If I can promote a book (not mine) - "60 Pieced Quilt Borders" by Judy Laquidara does a fabulous job of explaining how to make pieced borders fit. Along with giving you 60 different ideas. She has a worksheet in there you can use for any quilt to figure out what size sashing strips you need to make your border fit.

Janice McC, Let me try this again--Please count on me as I have never ever participated on a on-line event. I really need this as I have "tons" of UFOs. Today, I am inventorying my projects as I do every New Years. It is rather embarrassing but this is a general review:
--"Block Exchange" groupings
--halfway completed projects
--completed quilt tops needing to be sandwiched, quilted, and bind
--the most awful shower curtain my daughter talked me into converting it to a comforter; UGHHHHHH!!!
Thanks for hosting this and looking forward to the challenge.

So I guess I can celebrate finishing at least 9. Thanks guys for your progress with pictures. My last 4 pictures have are having uploading issues on my end.
Thanks again for organizing this thread and Happy New Year's.

Happy New Year everyone! I have binding to do so will have an early finish for 2018. With the Holidays and moving to the new house just didn't get it done. .
I did manage to get these done for your count Janice. Small table runner, another baby quilt that was a Boomerang block exchange, and a king quilt that was a block trade on the QB about 3 years ago and I used a falling block quilt that I made a couple of years ago for the back. That's all for 2017

Talk about overdue... my major UFO to dig out and complete is a "wedding" gift about 10 years late. I have 3 of 4 seasons done, and hope to finish the spring quarter by the end of spring, and have it quilted and delivered by BIL's August birthday? Meanwhile, I have a top that needs its borders, but is going to LQG charity group. Since "give it away" counts, I have January's UFO taken care of!
