2017 UFO Challenge of the Month
#881
Rob, Your pieces are often so unique! As i haven't an imaginative mind, this impresses me a great deal. Congratulations on another UFO finish. Toot, Toot!
I didn't think I'd have time to finish a UFO this month due to lots of out of town guests. But the last one left Monday and after reclaiming my sewing studio (DH still calls it the guest bedroom LOL), I was able to pull this smallish piece off the UFO pile and get it done. Good thing, too since I didn't have a new piece for the 4th Friday opening at the gallery where I show my work.
I think this one's been sitting around for the better part of a year (or two) waiting for inspiration.

Sheri, once again another beautiful grandma quilt. You are so very giving. Lovely piece! Congratulations and Toot, Toot!
Great finished so far this month!
Here's one to add to our list. It's for my SisterInLaw. I had intended on making her a whole different quilt, but after I finished all the Grandkid's quilts her daughter shared that she wished she could have a quilt like the grandkids were getting. She wanted to see more of all the fabrics her mom had had. Nuf said! I took her bag of grandma fabric that I had kitted and made one like the grands! Her daughter told me she liked light blue, she was lucky grandma had enough light blue stripe! I started making it with yellow stars but it kept telling me to use white. (Do Amy if you have quilts that talk?) i unpicked all the yellow and started over with white! I made it larger than the grandkids too, which required me to piece the back. For her back, I used fabric that was actually curtains in my SisterInLaw's bedroom when she was a girl. I hope she likes her quilt! It's really one of my favorite grandma quilts.

Toot, Toot, QuilterMomma! This is a beauty. I'm glad you are keeping this one. I'm sure it will make you happy just to see it everyday. Congrats!

Sophie, I'm so glad they have their feet and eyes. They're the right finishing touches. (Cardinals are my favorite birds ) Congratulations and Toot, Toot! times 8.
CarolinePaj, Your cat is adorable as a pillow. Great job! Toot, Toot! And I'm adding this into April just so i don't have to go back and adjust last month's numbers. And I'm off for the next few days. I plan to hide out in my sewing room and stitch until SOMETHING comes out finished. And since I've virtually nothing but UFOs, I'd better have at least one finish by Monday. HAve a lovely weekend everyone and keep stitching!

Anne2016, I plan on keeping the cardinals. I am going to put them behind my washer and dryer for a bit of cheer while doing the laundry.

Finally ready to toot my own horn...my UFO mini is done. Not perfect by any means, but done! That's a quarter in the corner. It's about 12 1/2 by 15 1/2 inches. I quilted it by machine in straight diagonal lines. Thanks to the pattern, I didn't even have to lift the needle to complete the inner portion. Just pivoted the piece around. Loved it.

A toot toot to Janice, our fearless conductor! Love your doll quilt! I have found minimal quilting is best for these smaller ones and the diagonal quilting is so quilter friendly, isn't it?
