Anne2016- I love this quilt! Well done. The colors just pop!
Sophie2- What a wonderful thank you for checking on your MIL. She's lucky to have him for a neighbor. That's how neighbors should be. Your pattern and colors are perfect for a man. Well done.

Great job, Sophie2! Congrats on your UFO finish! Toot, Toot![ QUOTE=Sophie2;7850606]This isn't a really old UFO, but it is done. It has only been on my pile for a year. I hope to have the binding sewn down on a quilt before the end of the month. I just keep plugging away. I have also finished a few things that were not UFO's.

What a lovely memorial quilt! Would you consider this a "finish" or a "UFO finish"? If it's a UFO, something that's been around a while, I'll add it to the tally. Thanks!

Anne, love that you put in all that time and effort on a quilt you weren't too fond of. Well, It's a beauty! Congratulations on a wonderful UFO finish! Toot, Toot!
This quilt has been around since about 200?. My piecing was bad and my quilting was worse. The quilting was bunched and way too tight. Fast forward a few years and I decided to remove the machine quilting block by block and hand quilt each block. Got over half done and decided that was enough for me. I put it in a box and stored it away. Another couple of years and we moved. I downsized and thought I'd give the quilt to a guild or some organization that would finish it. But I liked the colors and even the piecing wasn't THAT bad. I took a pic of it and decided to try to sell it at a cheap price when my move was complete. I did post it to an online place and had a person inquire about it. By this time I had forgotten that it wasn't quite finished. I searched for the storage box but could not find it. No trace . It was a very stressful time and I figured I had changed my mind and sold or given it away before moving. Last year my sister mentions that I have 2 boxes stored in her basement...omg! I had forgotten those. I think you have guessed by now that the quilt was in one of those boxes. I took it out and this month I finished the hand quilting. Now it is finished.

What a kind thing for you to do. Do you consider this a "finish" or a "ufo finish"? Please post and let me know.
Yesterday while watching TV with my DH I was able to get the binding stitched down on this quilt. It will be gifted to my MIL's neighbor. Last Christmas my MIL fell on the back porch (in Ohio) and laid on the porch for 1 1/2 hours before the neighbor found her. Luckily she was wearing a coat and suffered only (?) a broken arm. After Christmas the neighbor returned from a trip and sent me a text stating that he hadn't seen her for a bit and wondered if he should check on her. She was staying at her other son's house, so all was OK. I thought it was really nice that he was watching out for her. I had this fabric around for some time and thought it would make a perfect "thank you" gift.
