Here is a partial layout for my Purple Square Dance quilt. All from stash even the back and the batting. It is like making a quilt for free! More blocks cut but will be away from my machine for a few days. Fingers crossed to finish the top by the week-end.

joe’smom: Very pretty. I would add the new fabrics and add a plain colored border.

WMUTeach: Nice color selection.

Joe's Mom -- I think you still have time to add in some similar fabrics, maybe cutting some of your existing rows and putting new fabrics in there as well as putting in a couple more rows of fabric in between.

I suppose someone really creative could come up with a way of cutting in new fabrics in the middle to make a shape... curvy like a snake? Like stacked balls? Lightening? I can almost see it but not quite!

WMUTeach -- great purples!

I'm here on a pre-confession... I know I am going to at least try to buy fabric tomorrow. Tomorrow is a big president's day sale and we are going back to get some things that weren't on sale today but will be 40% off tomorrow which includes (if someone doesn't grab it first) some fabric... But mostly it's clothing and music related.

We had a lot of fun at the XFL Dragons home opener and are planning to go again. I'm going to make a Granny Dragon outfit for game day -- it will be mild compared to some of the other fans. I already have some lovely light weight metallic dragon scaled leggings in a suitable shade (team colors are Green and Orange), and I found two good options for a black skirt to go over it -- both of which will be on sale tomorrow, for under $5 and a green jacket that will only be $1.29 . I found out in Alaska that I was warmer in a nice big wool skirt with boots and long underwear than my friends in jeans. I have and wore a safety orange hat from my hubby's work at the game Saturday. This week I need to dive into the costume box and grab a rubber dragon mask that belonged to my son which I will stitch on top -- give me some minimal mist protection if not rain. And already have plans for a lap blanket... if I can find a bright orange beach towel I would be so happy!

Love the quilts that have been shown.

Joe's mom, I'd use those pretty fabrics to extend the quilt.

I've started a baby quilt in a pattern I've used before, but have already made one miscut and one miscalculation, so I'm going to need a little more fabric. Guess I should have looked harder for the pattern instead of winging it.

Actually came out with very little fabric to report! I did get those 2 small bags I had my eyes on, turned out the fabrics I wanted were flannel... I was suspicious all along about one of them but was surprised on the other. Oh well, into the donate pile they go. So I think I did pick up 3-4 pieces of yardage each for under $2, plus a little bag of fancy fabrics I'll be using for my banner.

I did pick up a bunch of stuff for costuming/game day. Dragon team colors are basically dark primary green and safety orange, I didn't find a bright orange beach towel but I indeed find a safety orange sturdy fleece lap blanket for under $5! A big full roll of Costco sparkling green trim (I have a piece sewn to some white fabric in the wash now to see what happens when washed) for $2. We got to the Goodwill within 30 minutes of opening but someone had gotten the best skirt (and the jacket) before I got there, is ok, I got the backup skirt at that store and found a better one by the end of the day. Still not as good as the first one but high quality (never worn, lined, it's beautiful), fits perfectly and again, under $5. These sale days are amazing, people basically go through the racks and buy everything that is on tag special, carts and carts full of stuff and me with my handfuls of odd items!

It was hubby's bowling league night and I went with him and to visit the Value Village where I got a couple of really good scores. Some sort of cloth Ikea storage system (for toys? diapers??) that looks like a dragon! It has a head I can use on the banner/blanket, and a tail I can possibly use for myself! Everything was half off so that was just $1.50. There were about 50+ people in the stadium in these big dinosaur onesies... and there at VV was a huge adult green onesie! it's not a dragon yet and I don't know if the Hubby would wear it, but again, at $4 full price ($2 sale), in the cart it went. Along with a set of (obviously never worn) silk pajamas his size for the sale price of $4. Last time he visited his mama, she said even as her son at his age it wasn't appropriate for him to be running around in his underwear and T-shirt, so next time he will be properly attired!

Well, I added to my stash today but it was from a donation left in our church quilting box. I didn’t take the bigger pieces of Christmas fabric but I did take a charm pack of Christmas fabric along with a few other pieces. The veggie prints are 1/2 yard pieces.

At least I gave 2 quilt tops to the group so it negates some of the amount received today.

I have tended to lust after FQ bundles since beginning quilting several years ago; as I was looking at close-ups of the fabrics in a FQ bundle on-line the other night, it occurred to me that there were only one or two of those fabrics that I would commit to buying as individual fabrics. So I realized it is the collective impact of all of the fabrics together that creates the allure! I think this will be a big help to me in demystifying the appeal of FQ bundles in the future!

Joes'smom.....I like adding additional fabrics to extend quilt. I'd, also, consider skipping a border all together. I think it would look so cool with just a pieced edge and binding. Of course, yellow is my fav color so more yellow the merrier...lol..

WMUTeach.....beautiful start on the purple quilt. Will be stunning when done.

retiredteach.....most of those fabrics all look like excellent blenders....I don't see them staying in your stash for long.

I bought some toweling yardage to make a project for my MIL. I don't have toweling in my stash and it really fits my idea of what MIL would love. Also, I bought extra to make a runner for myself...so, in and out of stash in 30 days.
