Emma love the look of the outerboarder!

I added another 3" border in a med green tone on tone around the outer pieced boarder it measures 97 in square now. No one in my house has a green bed so someone else outside of my house will be receiving " Grand Illusion".

Beautiful, Emma! Bravo for using stash only... and I see you have a Celtic Solstice in the pile, too.

Your back 'rocks'!

Emma - Great job!! How will you be quilting it?

Since this quilt has so much going on, I was wondering what type of quilting designs would best suit it - Perhaps doing simple stippling or a linear type of design? What are some of you planning?

Sewbiz: Good eye spotting the CS, there's also a Orca Bay I there. I call that my pile of shame, seven sandwiched bed size quilts waiting to be quilted. This year for sure. I quilt on a HSM but it has a nine inch harp which help a lot.

Costumegirl: I am going to use some kind of Pantograph. Since the quilt itself reminds me of windy summers days at the beach I would like something that suggests the wind and waves. Have to look through my quilting books, sure there is the perfect one in there. When I find it I'll post.

Thanks everyone for your comments. This is a great and supportive group!

Emma- Just saw your update-- what do you quilt on? I use a Janome 6600 but for some strange reason I have Juki2010 machine envy.

SusanSusan: I have a Brother 1500S. I would highly recommend it. It has no frills, only a back and forward stitch but it is a real work horse. The stitch quality is great and it is very powerful, no problem going through multiple layers. I paid $750 for it but recently saw it for $695. It looks very similar to the Janome but is usually a lot cheaper. I am so enthusiastic about this machine that I think the Brother Corp. should pay me for my multiple endorsements. Had it close to three years with absolutely no problems. I use it for both piecing and quilting. Someday I may even get another as a backup. I have seen it mounted on a frame but the quilting area is to tiny as far as I'm concerned.

Frustraedquilter, Your avatar is beautiful. Can you, by any chance, post a bigger picture of it? I wish we could click on avatars to see them better.

Emma- I have seen that machine, too and considered it for FMQing! I think I like the idea of speed control. My foot is not good at controlling itself!

I don't know why I want to add to my machine. The 6600 actually fmqs quite nicely.

Emma, how do you quilt a pantograph on a HSM? I thought only longarms could do pantos.
