I've had a quilting marathon the last few days and finished up 3 more UFOs... tonight I am off to Vegas for a week of HEAT and fun in the Neon Lights so this will be brief. I'll get the pictures uploaded for now and talk about them later!
|
Lovely asimplelife! Have a safe trip.

Goonberrie: Would love to see your UFO. The process to attach a picture probably has been covered better than I can explain it but let me see if I can point you in the right direction. My pictures are on my computer. This is how I do it:
1. Down where you would normally click on "post quick reply", click on "go advanced". 2. The screen will show a different format for the reply. Scroll down and click on "browse'. Pick your picture out of your computer file. (Very important: Make sure your photo is condensed to the smaller size that is allowed by the QB) 3. Click on "download". This should attach your photo to your reply. Type in any additional message you wish. 4. "post" There are probably much better instructions provided by the site itself but I wanted to respond so that you would know that you are welcome to join in the fun. |
Whoops, Goonberrie should have told you to click on "manage attachments" in the second step above.

asimplelife: beautiful finishes, as usual. Do you do your own quilting? They are just lovely. I hope you had a fabulous time in Vegas. (going there during the summer, are you nuts?!?!?!)
|
Oh so love that string quilt you made asimplelife. It is beautiful. I have 8 of my own ufos to quilt and will post once done. Just have to get them done. Still working on customers. I am almost done with one that turned out so pretty, but I have the binding to finish up. Think I may get it attached this weekend. Anyone want to do bindings on all these quilts? I have five items just needing binding.

I do my own walking foot quilting on kid size and smaller quilts and enjoy it very much (finally!) with my Juki 2010q. I send larger quilts out to a long armer. Besides busting UFOs I want to learn how to FMQ this year. |
We must be on vacation this month from UFOs right? NOT!!! I am finally getting one on the longarm. I finished up the customer king fractured star. had to turn it and repin five times to get it done. Boy, that was a task. No more of those for awhile. Anyone else have some finishes?
|
None for me...not sure if I will get one finished in July or not. I haven't sewn much in the last 3 weeks due to shoulder pain. Going to physical therapy now so hope to be on the mend soon.
|
Still ploding along on my string quilt. The reason such a simple pattern is taking so long is; I am hand sewing all those quilt as you go seams, since I didn't like the way it looked using any other method (never again), and its a King size. Hoping for a July finish but ..............

Finished this one on the quilting and the binding is set to go. Posting in case I get to busy later. Was playing with some quilting designs on this one since it is a scrap.

Not sure I posted this one. Finishing up the binding but since I was thinking about it, thought to post it completed.
|
Wow! Beth you did it again. All of it is very nice.
|
Quiltermoma, wow your quilting is superb! Do you do all that free hand, or do you mark and quilt? I am not that talented - I'd have to mark and quilt. The embrella girls are beautiful!
I had 5 UFO finishes this year, then I made a chameleon purse for the month of June - not a UFO. Then I just finished a quilt for my camper, also not a UFO! I have to get back with the program! Nancy |
QuilterMomma--a couple more great finishes!
BoJangles--like you I have UFO finishes (5), but have made some other things this year as well...a wedding gift quilt, tablerunners for gifts, quick dress w/matching purse for DD and a purse for me. I have another UFO to the "flimsy" stage and one half quilted...hope to finish this one yet this month, but not sure if it will happen or not. |

Here is another finish I just completed. The binding is going on as I type. I was practicing some more quilting motifs from Sue Patton and Pam Clarke. No, I don't mark. It is all free hand. I have so much more fun that way. If I marked to much I would just go bananas. I used up most of my pieces of batting that I had in a bag from other quilts. No waste on my homefront, to expensive.
Thank you for the nice comments, it always makes me feel better. I am down to approximately five UFOs in my stash. The ones left are going to be taking some time to do. I want to finish them up by the end of next month so I can enter them in the fair. Then what will I do? Oh yeah, those WIPs that need done right. |

I feel guilty posting my 1st UFO of the year. I said back in March that I wanted to join this group because I have a few UFOs that I want to get finished this year. But, finishing therapy for a broken arm and getting cortisone shots for the basal joint arthritis slowed me down. And, we've had a lot of company this year at the cabin. Everyone wants to visit when you live at lake in the summer..... can't get much done when I'm cooking and fishing with guests.
Anyway, this quilt is one of 2 matching twin sized quilts for the guest room. I bought all this cabin-like fabric when we bought this place 8 years ago.... didn't know what I wanted to do with it but it had to be for the cabin. Then, 5 years ago, a neighbor wanted to do this class where you take 9 FQs and slash, turn and stitch. Now I had 9 blocks a little less than FQ size. It took me a long time to decide to put them together with the cheater fabric to make this quilt. And, I have the other top done.... just waiting till the next wave of company leaves so I can sandwich, quilt, and finish that one. Hopefully, it won't take very long (about a week just doing the quilting). So guilty, or not, I'm posting this one. It feels SO GOOD to have this one finished..... broke the ice.... now to just keep going. |
Very nice in its own right but perfect for a cabin. Congrats on the finish! Few things feel as good as turning a UFO into a beautiful quilt. Keep on going!
|
Guilty nothing, you finished an UFO, that is what counts! Glad your healing from the broken arm. Ouch, and those injections hurt to no end on the basal joint, had to have surgery on mine after a cabinet fell on it at Knox Lumber years ago. The therapist, after the surgery, told me to massage the area at least once a day to keep the arthritis from building up again. I do it on both, sometimes it hurts, but that just tells me I better do it more than once. Really has helped mine.
Oh, love the cable quilting on your finish. The fabric would go great in my house, DH loves fishy fabric. Nice job. |
I have the binding on a couple more items that were left in the pile. Excited to get some WIPs done. I did find one little quilt that I started years ago. I have the rest of it all cut up and ready to sew from years ago in batiks no less. Will get on that in a couple more months. But I started quilting it, didn't like it and set it aside, so now to rip it out, quilt it up and get it ready for the fair. Yep, going to finish another one. bindings anyone?
|
Thanks Emma and Quilter Momma. I hope I can get the matching quilt finished quickly so I can work on the next UFO.
|
Jean, there is no 'cheater' fabric in that quilt! The border doesn't count as a cheater fabric! The 'cheater' quilts are when you use panels instead of piecing the center portion, focus portion of the quilt! That border is perfect for your cabin quilt. Don't feel guilty because this is your first finish! Every finish counts, feels good too doesn't it? You are on a roll now to get the other cabin quilt done! Great finish, very pretty quilt!

I have finally finished one of my UFO's, have had it for 2 years, it is a customer t-shirt quilt. Will deliver this weekend.
There are some close up pictures in my album "My quilts" if you would like to look at them and one from before it went to the longarmer. |
Very cute quilt, fourpaws..... I've thought about doing a t-shirt quilt for my SIL but he hasn't gone through the t-shirts yet. I like the placement on yours.

When I took the class to learn how to make this, the instructor was great, she is an out of the box kinda person. Not having all blocks the same size, or lining everything up from top to bottom. they are line up across but not in columns. I like that. Another customer has given me 60 shirts to do for him, told him they would be atleast 3 or 4 quilts and he likes that idea. all his racing shirts. I have 3 other people who want me to let them know what the cost would be for me to do them. |
Very cute quilt Cindy! You had that TShirt quilt for 2 years and it wasn't even your project? Wow! You have a very patient customer! The person you did that quilt for will appreciate waiting 2 years when she/he sees that quilt!

Nancy BoJangles...........there is a reason behind me having it 2 yrs, right after they gave me the shirts I found out I had lung cancer and wasn't doing any quilting for about a year. I had a lung removed and then recovery. They were very understanding and in no hurry to get it back, I think it started out as wanting to get them out of their house. When I delivered it to them yesterday afternoon, they both were estatic about how it turned out. |
High 5 Cindy! :)

I finally got back to working on some more UFO's...3 twin toppers. The 1st is Pretty Pony Cathedral Star...3 dimensional. The pinwheels around outside are the leftovers from the inner stars...everything got used so no waste.:) The 2nd is a BOM bought from Hancock fabrics about 5-7 years ago. Bought at the end of the season on sale, missing month 11 so I used the little bits of leftovers & made a block (had just enough to do it). :) The 3rd is a scrappy batik/blenders BOM from Persimmon quilts website a couple years ago. I think these make a total of 8 UFO's finished for the year so far.
|
Great quilts posted the last few days!
|
Bravo VickiM!

Wow!! You have 3 done to show and tell...... That's great and they are all so nice. I really like the BOMs. 8 so far.... you're ahead of schedule for 1 a month..... good job!!

Vicky, I love all the quilts you just finished, but I especially love the yellow and blue one! I have - I think - 3 Block of the Months I need to get done! I need to spend less time on this computer and more time sewing! Nancy |
