joe'smom & Kassaundra - thank you for the link and picture that shows spinning a seam. I just did it to 5 of my 9patch and it really reduces that bulky feeing. Looks like I am going to spend a little more time sitting at my pressing table:-)

[QUOTE=tscweaves;7950078]Rookie quilter question, what do you mean to spin your seams?[/QUOTE

Here is an explanation better than the one I could give—it is Bonnie’s

You can use the same process to splin the seams on a pinwheel. It is very useful when you have multiples seams that meet at one location. Or you can use a hammer and smash them flat.

I won't be able to start mine until Sunday, so I'll loving seeing everyone's fabrics come out to play! Kass, yes I think I'll spin my seams too. The less bulk the better and with such small pieces the seam allowence is nearly the same as half of each patch!

Here are some of mine! From what I cut, I got 22 total. I'm making about half the units, which for this one would be 25. I think I'm close enough, so I'm going to stop here for now!

I don't usually work this small (I typically make 9 or 12 inch blocks), so I find these are pretty darn cute!

And I decided to press as Bonnie is suggesting. This is my first mystery, so I'm not ready to go out of the box yet!

Wow! Thanks for that pic of spinning the seams on a 9 patch. I'm not sure I'm willing to devote that much time to do that.

Big quilt auction at Goshen Fair Grounds today. I'm going, but there is a promise to my check book....no purchases. Just looking. Checking the market.....

oh wow Marcia, wish I could go with you! I’m only 80 miles south of there. But too much going on here. Laundry started, raisins boiling for cookies, birthday cake to make. You noticed no quilting on the list today. I don’t have the binding on my SimplyColorful quilt, only half of one side, so any free time will go to that because it’s taking up my cutting/sewing table. Have fun!

Everyone's block look great! Making only 1/2 size sure made the making faster! I might make it larger when I see the reveal but I think lap size would be more useful. Now it seems a long time until next Friday.

Reply for Battle Axe:

Yes, that is a cutting mat. When you finish the cutting. Keep the mat on the fabric and twist off the mat so so it isn't right on top of your fabrics. Don't pull the mat straight up off the fabrics. That will keep the static down and the fabrics will be easier to remove. Sorry you are struggling. hope that helps!

I love everyone’s blocks! Thanks for sharing. I have a project to finish for a sewing class on Tuesday before I can start on the first clue. I probably will only do a dozen for now.

Battle Axe: Do you rub your hand across your cutting mat and then slightly twist it to slide it off? It mostly keeps the strips from attaching to the cutting mat. Also, you can dust the mat with a dryer sheet to help cut down on the static. I hope your tailbone is starting to feel better.

Here are a few of my mystery blocks--they look a little wonky because they didn't want to lie flat on the mat! As you can see, in some blocks, I took "chocolate brown" quite literally.
