Default Apple Hand Pies in AirFryer

Made these hand pies (only 3) using homemade pie crust and canned apple filling...In the airfryer 360 degrees about 15 minutes. I did flip over about halfway. They look like fried chicken.

I had never seen an air fryer until last year. I would love to had one when my kids were young. I have no need for one now.

Someone said they no longer needed one since no kids. But it makes smaller portions which is wonderful since the household consists of my husband and myself. Less waste since he is not a big fan of leftovers.

I made chicken breast the other day (breaded) and it was so moist...I do not want to use an oven for one or two pieces of chicken...sorry. I made zucchini and yellow squash the other day in it...squash was softer, but there was a nice crunch to the outside. I made brownies...perfect size to avoid having a batch of brownies tempting me all the time. I made delicious pork chops and a baked potato in it.

I am surprised so far how versatile it is...from what I can tell, it has been accepted and around in other parts of the world for a longer time, and is just not getting more popular here (U.S.). Lots of blogs and sites for recipes, plus a little experimentation helps.

Good luck. I do not think it is just another gadget. At least that's the way it has worked out for me. I have a NuWave Brio from Kohls.

Oh, and the fries are best of all...done in less than 20 minutes for steak fries (large portion) and no bottle of oil needed.

*** They are the same as Southern Fried Pies.
***
*** We used canned biscuits and made 2 from each one.
*** Rolled very thin and filled (use cold apple filling - stops soggyness) and fry in small amount of oil.
***
*** But I have a problem with them - when I walk by the fridge ice cream seems to jump onto them.

I just got mine today - need to find some recipes for it for squash (and other things). I LOVE fried squash and no restuarants seem to have it any more ! Of course, restaurant health ratings in our area are going way down - I have my own thoughts on why, but anyway - if SLbram, you can post your air fryer squash recipe, I would appreciate it.

Don't really have a recipe but I can tell you what I did. You might want to add some italian dressing for flavor though. I sliced up 1 small zucchini and 1 small yellow squash, sprayed with olive oil. Preheat the fryer at 360 degrees, and after preheated, cooked in the fryer for about 15 minutes or so. Test with fork to make sure you are ok with the tenderness. The zucchini was crunchy, the yellow squash was softer.

Go to Pinterest and search on air fryer recipes. I bought the cookbook off of QVC too. I love my fryer. Found this recipe but haven't tried it http://www.archanaskitchen.com/zucch...-crisps-recipe
