ends so when I wash the in hot water to shrink they don't ravel.

Definitely glass! More cleaner and can put in dishwasher. I don't like to hear a knife sliding against metal. Most of the time I make my breads in my Breadmaker machine. Its metal but for a reason.

Mines on a wooden tv tray and it isn't damaged yet. If you are afraid it may damage it, go the GoodWill, Yard sales, etc and find an old used one.

I've had a Jazz 2 for almost 2 yrs now and love it. The original Jazz1 was not successful because it didn't have and up/down button. The threading is tricky....in the manual if the lines are dotted...
