Wow Charlee, that 15 looks like a new machine and all you did was TR-3? The cabinet in amazing too! It looks like you re-did the cabinet - sanding and all, but you got that look with Howard's restore a finish? No sanding? Amazing!

Not a lick of sanding at all!! :) I'm lazy...if I don't have to do a tear down and kerosene bath, then I won't...and I didn't have to! :D TR-3 did the trick!

where did you find it?

The TR-3? Walmart, in the auto section. The machine? Bought her for $20 from a storage customer of ours! :)

You can get the replacement cord on ebay for anywhere from 8-12 dollars...or find it in a sewing machine supply online. (I got mine from ebay)

I need advice--Has anyone ever used a product call Evaporust?? I have a faceplate that is completely rusted and the little spring coil that is part of the tension assembly is welded to the faceplate. Any suggestions??? The little coil is on the left side about 1/3 way from the top.

thanks for the inf my machine the feather weight 221 sews great the bobbin thread was not winding on the bobin good but think it will work it self out had a new bobbin winder put on as well as a new belt think it will have to adjust on another note I am piecing a top on it but do not know if should try to do the ac 3 pieces to quilt on it as it seems there would not be room to quilt a large quilt have checked the quilt as you go one says to quilt in blocks the others says to do strips has any one done either of these on the feather weigh machine would like to have some input on this thanks

Hi Jan

I'm pretty sure my husband uses that in his woodshop for rusty old chisels and blades. A quick trip just now into the Temple of Doom and I couldn't see it. I'll ask him about it later this evening.

Oh Texas Jan, your poor little machine is truly rusted. Hopefully, someone will know what to use. I look forward to seeing it when you have it restored and running. Quite an endeavor at this point, huh? :-D

Randa, same thing happened to me, Billy kindly set me strait, thought Id pull my hair out. each time u remove the bobbin case or the cover plate make sure the little "finger" on the bobbin case is caught in the slot on bottom of the case. not something you would notice! Also, just wanted to say that tonight I was trying to finish some "doggie dudds" for donation to humain society annual MUTT STRUT. using my janome cause it was handy. that machine REFUSED to sew the velcrow strips on for me. i threaded, rethreaded, tore bobbin area apart and gave it a good cleaning, after one frustrating hour, i got out the 201, and WHALA!!! a few minutes later, they are done. I love that machine!
