What was your very first sewing machine, and how old were you?

My Mother and Daddy bought me a Singer Sew Handy for my 6th Christmas in 1962. I made so many outfits and pillows I lost count. My next machine was a White MG77 that had been my Mother's. I missed both machines so much I bought one of each within the last year. Only problem, can't find needles for the Singer Sew Handy.

Mine was a Sears Kenmore flatbed in a cabinet--I was 10 and that baby sewed everything.I got a wild hare when I was 13 and wanted a Singer like crazy, so we traded in the Kenmore and bought a Singer. Big Mistage, Big, Huge. The Singer never worked right. When I got married, and my DD was 6 months old, my DH took me to Sears and got me a new free arm Kenmore. Still have her and she still works. Use her for denim, and heavier fabric sewing. She is one of the last all metal ones.
I have a Viking 500 that I use now and love her too.

Mine was a White. It belonged to a friend of my Uncle James. He was selling off his Mom's things (it was surmised that it was for booze), anyway, I got it for $20 and used it for many years. I was probably 16. I just donated it last year so someone else could have some great memories using it.
