6 yards was not my fault, sort of...i didn't realize that the white on white designs on a black and white quilt would disappear. And I miscalculated the amount of yardage needed. These kinds of mistakes will lessen with experience, right?

OK. This excuse is an oldie but a goodie! I received a gift card from an LQS for Christmas. I could have purchased thread, a book, class or a tool, but noooooooooooooo I had to go to the markdown fabric section, you know, to maximize my gift. Found a new-to-me fabric manufacturer: Lecien. Very Japanese-y muted colors. Would not have been too bad except I spent way more than the amount on the card, although I do have a pattern in mind. Sigh. New month, new resolve.

I got out of JoAnn's without any fabric and found a use for some of the white on white that I accumulated. Very happy with that. Good Luck everyone for February.

I tried this in 2004, it was so much fun I made it through 2005! I have since moved and downsized A LOT so now I get to start over with fresh fabric. Alright!!!

I think this group is going to help me stay on track and use up what I have. In every other area of my life, I'm frugal....just have a passion for fabric, quilting, etc.

I went to the podiatrist yesterday (maybe gout) and they took a look at my tennis shoes and the Doctor told me to go get measured today and get a new pair of shoes today! I did and the shoes fit wonderfully.......the nice lady took my "old" shoes and said she'd recycle them to the homeless group. So, they will be used. BUT, I almost vomited when she told me the new shoes were $150.00! ! ! ! Do you know how much fabric that could buy? Especially if you can find clearance for $5.00/yard? ! ! ! ! Oh my..........

So, today I learned to spend $$$ on other things you need. But in keeping with my thrifty ways, I told her I usually buy my shoes at Shoes on a Shoestring (outlet store)......so she said she'd give me a list of the "correct" shoes for me and offered to have me come by and she'd verify they are correct fit. But, after my bout with the foot problems....I am definitely willing to spend good money on my feet! ! ! !

Everyone, have a great week...if you are in snowy weather.....stay inside and warm.....if not......enjoy your weather!

NoraB, I have a colleague who fights gout. I think if you "only" have to spend some $$ on a good pair of shoes, you are doing good. Hope they help.

This is a Project Linus quilt made from stash, except for the back. Feels good to not have to buy to be able to give.

Made potholders yesterday. Used up some of my stash that I was saving. Does anybody have trouble making something from a favorite fabric

QltrSue..Looks like a quick pattern to make as well...

Oh yes..beckyw..I just might need it for that project I planned years ago...The older I get, the better I'm getting at letting go...really trying to use up stash...pot holders are good scrap busters...I often make the kind with the 4 folded squares using 9 or 10" squares and a backing...easy for the Grands to sew...
