only me. One daughter just sighs when I try to show off a quilt. She's bored by it all. Brat. The other one likes the idea of quilting but hasn't caught the fever yet.

I grew up in a quilting family of aunts, grandmother, and my mom, sister and me. I'm the only one left.

I learned to hand quilt with my mother and her seven sisters-n-law at the age of 10. My mom is too arthritic to quilt anymore and my aunts are all gone. They would meet on Sunday evenings rotating houses (everyone always had a quilt stretched) and the guys would play penny poker in the kitchen. The kids sat under the quilt, REQUIRED to thread needles and listen to the gossip. My mom and I were the fastest and could reach the farthest on the quilt. Now I volunteer hand quilting at the senior center and quilt by myself. I don't think any of my cousins still quilt.

I used to quilt with my mom, shes gone now, but I have lots of precious memories and all her quilts. I have a sister in Ore. and her daughter that both quilt. I go out there every year in July and spend 2 weeks. Last year we did a shop hop,
3 states, Idaho, Wasington and Ore. and we went to the out door quilt show in Sisters. If I did'nt have a husband I probably would'nt come home.

What a wonderful time together for your family!! I have two sisters that sew but we all live way too far apart.. we try to do some crafts together when we are in one spot but no sewing, we usually make jewelry..... enjoy all those days!!

    Hey Joyce,
If I wasn't using my parents car and having to be with them so much we could have gotten together. Maybe moma will get stronger, she can't be left alone yet.
