I love handquilting but I have seen gorgeous quilts with longarm's too so it's a tough call... I guess if I won one or got one for an amazing deal I would but I don't have the room either...

i have only been quilting for 3 years and do pretty well machine quilting small projects on my home machine ...but If I had the money i would get a long arm in a heartbeat. I love the beautiful quilting you can do on it and the time you save. I personally would be able to finish more quilts faster.

I have even checked out long-arms. As cheap as I am if I had the money i would definitely own a Gammill.

No you're not the only one. It's the cost and also the space I have or lack of. I wouldn't have any place to put it.

As far as cost, I don't have anyone else do the quilting either (my husband wouldn't understand that at all!) so I quilt my own quilts and would love to FMQ - will try that on the wall hanging I'm making now (on samples first of course). All my stuff has been straight line quilting so far.

Since I am a hand quilter I am rather partial to the hand quilted look and am not fond of the machine quilting I have no use for a long arm .

Nope. I don't want one either. I have no place to put one and they seem very complicated to me. Not worth the money.

Some of us are just not meant to be LA quilters. I tried one years ago and felt as if I were driving a semi truck from the rear end. Too much of a good thing for me. I don't have the "rhythm" to do smooth work, either, so I am a hand quilter. I really admire the ladies (and men) who can do this work, as some of them are really fantastic. But, one would almost have to be in business to justify the expense in my opinion. However, if this is your dream, go for it. I just don't need, or want one.
