I really like the piecing, beginning to enjoy the fabric selection. Really hate the cutting (but only because I get a backache cutting on a table-level surface).

It's easy, and just SEW much fun! I joined an on-line group, and have been a member now for probably 10 years or so. The name of the group is called Treadle On, and there's an abundance of information on there about treadles.

I honestly don't sew on anything other than 'people powered' machines. I just feel like I've got tons more control, and the machines are built to last. My oldest is from 1879, and my 'every day machine' is probably around 1920's.

    Hope it helps!

I love every aspect of quilt making apart from the basting on the floor bit, but only this week I have discovered the way of doing that on a table with two boards so I can't wait to try that with my next quilt! Just getting a bit to old and stiff to be scrambling around on the floor too much!

This is probably wrong to say on a quilting board, but I'm not so fond of the quilting. Seems everything goes well up to this point and it usually goes to hell. That said I've only ever done SITD and some basic stuff with the pre-sets on my machine but I've only just obtained a darning foot. Not lookin so good though..
I always feel a little fraudulent calling myself a quilter, when what I really am is a piecer.

I hate pressing the fabrics. The part I like best is hand-quilting.

This is a great resource. Maybe I,ll get Grandmas machine up and running afterall. Other people know I sew and I now have other machines to clean and get running.

I'm SEW happy you mentioned this. I don't enjoy the starching & pressing process, either. I was hoping to quilt all day on my birthday, so you reminded me I should get all my starching & pressing done first so I can enjoy the day. :)

I love everything except marking for the quilting. Maybe once I get a little better I will make my quilting more intricate and will enjoy marking too.
