I usually take a break and "clean" my sewing room. That usually works to get me back in the mood to sew.

I think we all have those moments. When I have them I try a couple of different things. I have tons of jeans so I grab a pile and start cutting the usable parts. Then when I am ready to make a jean quilt the "yucky" part is done. Or I will go into my scrap bin and cut some of those into squares or strips. Even if I am not sewing, I feel like I got something accomplished and then the sewing bug eventually comes back!

I hear you - I think we all go through these slumps - I have been feeling it too. I know when winter comes and less light outside - I notice a difference in my mood - right now I am just making myself go into my sewing room that has a huge window with lots of light - sometimes I sew and sometimes I just bring in my laptop and surf the internet. Just hang in there - you are not alone.

I have to make a list of what I need to get done - housework, shopping, etc. Once it's done, I feel free to sew. I also took all my 'projects' & put them in bags. I just do one at a time. BTW, if my husband took up sewing, it would drive me crazy too! He'd have to get his own machine & his own room.

I have been in a slump lately. I made several of Sue Fish's table runners to get me back into the swing of things.

I spend some time here if I don't feel like quilting. I do try the quick project sometimes and that inspires me too.

That may be why I put it on the back burner. But, then again, nothing I ever do is small or quick. It takes a while to hand stitch things. And my DH has stacked blocks all over my machine table. Girls, I may have accidently stumbled on to part of my problem. MY DH is taking OVER!! He has fabric and blocks everywhere!!!! Its driving me nuts!!
Well there you go... ask him to get out of your space (nicely of course) could be a good reason to use separate tables if space is available. Cool when a craft is shared but your mind may be wondering to DH project instead of being able to just focus on yours. Good Luck !!

But have had times when just don't want to sew, TG they don't last long :-)

I think we all get our minds so overloaded with things we want to do that it gets us going in circles and we can’t focus on one thing. I have had to just stop and clear my thoughts and start with one day at a time. You know that old saying the “faster I go the father behind I get” Well that’s what happens when we are on overload. Take it one step at a time and if you don’t feel like doing one thing just do what ever you feel like. There is always another day and if there isn’t OH WELL at least you spent your last day doing what you liked and were happy.

there's your problem! absolutely without a Doubt! I've read about husbands on this board who catch their wives' quilting passion. And I think, "oh but wouldn't it be fun if my DH & I did this together..." then reality slaps me upside the head and I shake that little dream Out as quick as I can. lol... If he wanted to join me in this passion he would have to get his own apartment first. heh-heh
