OMG..I have to starch my fabric? Wow!!! Bought fabric today, and was going to start cutting tomorrow. I know I am months behind everyone else but I guess I better read slower. Starch? Like in spray? Helppppp!!!!! Oh yes, and thanks for the link!!!

I didn't starch any of mine before doing it, if you washed it you may have to to stiffen it up some, most fabric have enough body to it without it, some prefer a little extra or washed it. it is up to you, what are you comfortable working with.

The stiffness helps when you are tryin to line up your repeats, of course then when starching it you have it a little off grain then you would have a time trying to line it up as well.

I didn't starch mine, either. Used a lot of pins to line up the repeats, but I didn't starch it. ;-)

I've never starched my fabric. Don't wash it or shrink it. Just cut repeats, stack, pin and cut strips, then triangles. Use skinny pins to hold it all together.

I agree - in fact, starching it and over wetting it might warp it out of 'true'. Just use it straight off the bolt. :-D

Can't find the thread I posted on yest, but wanted to show you the cutting I did today.Found out a couple things to share with other newbies.

Glad I have the books. One from library & 2 edition is mine.Very glad I went with my 2nd choice in fabric & saved the better stuff for next time.

Back is hurting, so haven't played with these blocks....just put them together to get some idea of what they look like.
1st pic is original fabric,then rows ready to pin....& a few blocks,not sewn.
