I suppose I could hold off sewing the neutrals on in the hope of learning more. I saw a block layout posted on the Quiltville page that seemed like a good possibility. But maybe that's a sure sign it isn't the one, lol.
The one using the geese as a star and the 4 patches as corners? I don't think that is it for a couple of reasons, first it is to predictable, and second there would be no point to decapitating the geese, it would look better w/ regular geese. Oh and I know my layout isn't even close the pieces don't actually "fit" the way I laid them out for the photo

I hoped that wasn't it, because it looks kind of strange when the star points are lighter than the area between the points.

Those cheddars are wonderful! Can't wait to see them with the plums! I love your variety of neutrals, too.

LOVE your 4 patches, SheriR! You've chosen some great golds and neutrals.

I forgot I have a stackable drawer full of 2" squares I can go through to pick out cheddars and neutrals. It won't be as quick as the strip method, but the variety will be better!

Those 4 patches are great, SheriR! I was debating whether to use all cream or all white background fabric but with your mixture it looks like the white ones have a glow and makes your little layout there light up in places. Now I will have much more variety.
I haven't been able to start on the mq yet but should be able to start this week. Now I don't know if I should start with clue 1 or jump onto 3 to be doing what everyone else is doing.

I needed to make 120 4-patches for Bonnie Hunter's Allietare mystery, from 2" strips. Simple enough. I did some quick math and decided I get 20 2" squares from each strip of fabric, so I need 6 strips of each colour. Some of you already know where I'm going here ...

I carefully packed up my strips for a sewing day and headed off to a friend's house. Merrily sewed strips together, cut segments from them to make 4-patches, and half-way through the first pair of strips I stopped dead. A 4-patch does not need *1* square of each colour. Of course it needs 2. So my carefully cut 6 strips of faabric is only half of what I need to make 120 4-patches. Sigh.

So here are my 60 4-patches, patiently waiting for their friends

I had been working on things to sell at a craft fair. I sold 1 thing. Such a disappointment and waste of my time.
    I'm so sorry, Pam!

I think clue #1 is more of a chore, so maybe get that over with first, and then you'll have the reward of two clues that are more fun?

I would do some of each to start, then go back from the beginning and do the rest, until caught up.
