This is what I'm afraid of. I'm going into the hospital next week for heart surgery and will be in there for at least 5 days and I just know I'm going to get really far behind on reading everyone's updates. But at least it will give me something to do while I'm recovering.
Doug my prayers ar with you for the up coming surgery and recovery.

Question- We just bought a Singer 301 in a table. $50 It is not here yet but it is at the people who will take it down South for us. The person selling us told that it runs but it is not catching the bobbin thread. Any thoughts on this? Will we need to replace the bobbin area or could it be as simple as needing a cleaning or correct installation of the bobbin?

Also the belt and needed parts for the treadle are in the mail. This up coming week could be fun!!!!

Eyeballing a treadle 96K no spare parts but they want $150. Should I go after it? First one I have seen with a reverse. It is plain and has a modern style base with simple 5 drawer cabinet but looks nice from the pictures. I think this machine is a tailors machine originally? Maybe Billy can tell me. I could find very little on it but my guess is it is made in Scottland because of the K. See a lot of machines down here with the K. Can you hear I am pretty interested in this one too. Hehehehe Dh says I can have it if I really want it but to me the price seems high. What would be fair for it? It is not working right now and has no manual or spare parts but I am pretty sure DH can get it humming in no time.

    Well I GOT HER!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!
This afternoon, we were on our way to pic up my DH car from the shop when he said, "Let's go look at that treadle machine." I said, "Really? Let's go!"

Long story, short version - off we went. She is in a little rougher condition than I had thought from DH's pics, but I think she is nice anyway...and DH is determined to get her all shined up. There is some wear on the decals, so i can tell that she was well used. There are 2 extra bobbins and what I think is a button hole foot and a ruffler. I am fascinated by the shuttle mechanism that is used. I didn't know that they were made that way, but then, I know nothing of treadle machines, so DH and I both have a lot to learn. I did learn as Billy said, that they were copies of the Singer 27/127 and made by Domestic and then later White. The serial number is 491273, but can't seem to date her, but think it is early to mid 1900's.
I am soooo excited! I feel like I have a piece of history sitting in my dining room.

If anyone can give me more info on this sweetie, I would appreciate it.

    And now, introducing you to......Maisie.

    Thank you Kitzone!

Where can I get a owners manual at? I tried google and came up with nothing. I didn't realize there was so much to learn!

Thanks so much! I can hardly wait til DH gets her up and running so I can try her out! It will be so neat to create something the way folks in the early 1900's did. Kinda makes you feel a connection with history. Hubby says he promises that I will have her ready to use by Christmas..yes I know, that is a ways away, but he is so busy with work, I am just tickled that he will do it at all!

Nursie, Maisie is a beauty. I think considering her age her decals look good and love the scarab beetle one. My little boys would love that! Love the wooden cabinet and metal base. Just wait till she had a her beauty treatment! Enjoy!
