Mamadi, I'm happy for you!!! You should really like sewing with your FW. I really like mine. It reminds me of a toy sewing machine, but isn't. Do you know what year she is? Have you thought about what you will name her?
If you need bobbins, sew-classic on line has them, and is good to work with in getting what you need.
If you are planning to take her traveling or to classes, Michaels has a good rolling yarn tote that is just the right size for the featherweight machines, and has pockets for other things you will want to take with you. Michaels accepts Hancock and Joann coupons as well as theirs.

Penelope was one of a lot of 5 Featherweights I purchased two months ago. My son and daughter in law brought them up to me from Calif last week just in time for my birthday. All of the girls are in really good condition, nice cases and none smell. Each of the sewing machines came with a manual and attachments. The seller also included the book, Featherweight 221, the Perfect Portable by Nancy Johnson-Srebro. What an awesome book if you want to learn the history of the Featherweight. As hard I tried I could not get a good picture showing the actual color of pale, pale celery green. Nope, not white at all.

Note that this machine is hardwired to the motor, the faceplate is molded metal and painted and the swing bed extension is 2 inches shorter than regular model 221s. Also the badge is very different from other Singer badges. If I had not received the Featherwieght book I would have thought that the badge was all wrong.

I have a little scroll face lovely. She is my favorite machine. I am hoping to get a 222 as soon as I can convince my dh I need another one. I seem to keep adding to my collection. I just posted my newest baby a handcrank earlier this evening.

I wanted a featherweight to take to classes at my quilt guild, so after searching a while, I found one on ebay, for around $178, shipping included. After cleaning and oiling, she runs just fine, although the japanning on her bed is chipped. There is no rust, however. Then, we found another on Craigslist for a very reasonable price, can't remember exactly, but less than we paid for the first one. It also runs nicely. The third one was a birthday present from DH last December. She runs fine, but has a musty odor. I suspect it may be the oil pad, or the case itself, hard to tell which. And the case is in bad shape. I am tempted to just remove the torn covering on the case and refinish the wood.

I expect that someday my featherweights will end up in the hands of my grandchildren. I just hope they recognize their value.

There are several ways that others have used to remove the musty smell of the case. You can put some dryer sheets in it and see if that helps. Also, you could replace the oil pad and see if that helps with the machine. I just love my little FWs and also my 3/4 size Singer 99's. They are really fun machines to use. I also hope your grand children will appreciate your little machines. Are you teaching them how to sew?
