Aw too bad I feel like death warmed over after that surgery last week or I'd go rescue it...

Good thing this seller has pictures - or I'd never have figured out what it was from the title or description.

I got a kick out of the "tread" holder - since when I look for "thread" on craigslist, I get a lot of adds for tires with very little thread wear.
|
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/zip/5069976248.html I am having a hard time matching the description to the machine I see in the pictures.
|
eh,.. what's a number between friends? model 6 , model 66 what's the difference? Oh. That much, eh? ;)
|
It looks to me like they read the serial # wrong and went by the description of an industrial machine.

Twenty bucks for this....https://fortwayne.craigslist.org/fuo/5059424283.html

Not bad. Looks like a White 77. They're neat machines. Independent forward and reverse stitch lengths.
Rodney |
Domestic 153 I think. More rounded than the White 77. It does have cooler plates though.

"for SERIOUS INJURIES ONLY!!!"
It would not be half as funny without the caps lock just at that point. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/atq/5070352760.html |

I absolutely agree. My kids were always leery of whether there was any "Mom" in their hash browns, lol. That's why I got a Salad Shooter when they first came out. Best kitchen invention EVER. I'm on my third one, wore out the first two.

A little extra protein in the salad is good for the kids.:D

ok- how many things can you point out that indicate this is not an Early Antique item?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fabulous-Ear...item1c5373bf67 Looks more like someone's highschool project to me . . . |
Apparently "Early American" includes the 1950s or 60s at least.
It's kind of neat but I agree. It does look like a high school shop project. The glued up layers practically scream it. It's certainly not a professional piece but overall it's pretty nice. I hope they got a good grade. :) I always wonder the story about hand made items like that that end up being sold or in a thrift store. Kind of like the vintage quilts I see on Shopgoodwill. At what point did the owners stop caring about them? Rodney |

That's what I'm thinking too for the most part. It is sad.

I should have caught the 15U portion... good eyes!
|
None of the older 15s had the feed dog drop knob. You have to drop the feed dogs from underneath the machine.
That knob is a giveaway that it's an Asian made machine. Rodney |

I am sure this will make a great story for the seller once a few years go by, but for now the giggles are kind of sad.

"This is a really old Singer Sewing Machine in the original cabinet. It is in very poor condition so I would ask that you make an offer. Must pickup, no delivery" Not so bad, maybe? |

may not be a Singer - but I'd love to get it!
That's a very early Standard rotary machine. Don't need the cabinet though, just the machine |

I like that one too - might be a nice challenge for someone with ambition -- and time on their hands. :-) I do love fiddle base sewing machines, and, oddly, the plainer ones with lots of wear (history). (One day...) |
The fiddlebase is nice. So is the New Goodrich. The lamps are just sad and they aren't as common as your average Singers either. I really hope the Franklin isn't the Scarab pattern. I like that pattern.
You might be able to salvage the machines but it's likely the spool pin holes were drilled out to accept the lamp hardware. That damage will always be there but may not be too noticeable. There are ways to display a sewing machine as a lamp without damaging it. Put the machine on a nice wooden base with the lamp post hidden behind it. The machine can be made to function again later if the owner chooses. A lamp shade would be nice too. Those old style bulbs look cool when they're off but I still wouldn't want them shining in my eyes. Rodney |
It's free and it may be a gnomezilla. :( Possible White 77.
