Thanks, it's seems to be a really "sweet" machine.

I am almost sure it will be a 15 x 1 (standard) needle. All the Necchis, Elnas, and the Japanese machines I've seen take the common needle.

Thanks! I was hoping it would take a standard needle.
Now to find info on the other one. A Free Westinghouse Type 5...how much fun this is!!

Wow, very pretty.... VM, That's a different type than the VS machines. Is that a transverse shuttle? I know little about the older shuttle mechanisms. If it is indeed the transverse, what are the pros and cons of this particular system?

(and oh... BTW.... thank you for the compliment on my current avatar pic of 40's dress pattern. lol) Yes, I love them too.

I don't know anything about this type of machine since I haven't taken an interest to research about them. Maybe Miz Johnny or someone else that owns one can fill you in. Just start with a google search.

I need help! I got a nice Singer Spartan (the no-frills 99) and have cleaned and oiled it...but the presser foot doesn't clamp down tight on the feed dogs. It has a lot of "play" in it and so the fabric doesn't move well no matter what stitch length I set it on. Other than that it runs very nicely, quiet and smooth. Any suggestions?

That's Billy's friend. The decals are really beautiful on this one.

This seller is the best of the best. I've bought several machines from him.

Yes, the motor probably needs grease, at least the older motors have to be greased! The machine probably needs to be oiled and deep cleaned to make sure there isn't hardened oil causing a drag. I wouldn't even try to run that machine until I had cleaned, greased the gears and motor, and oiled the machine. There are about 11 oil holes behind the face plate, several under the bottom cover, under the slide plates, and on the arm of the machine.

Good luck, I really love to sew on my Featherweights in classes!
