The hand wheel looks crooked to me.
The finish is shot on that red eye, or maybe its just really poor quality pictures.
shipping is outrageous.
Shipping is outrageous, high reserve, missing bobbin case, needs new plug - but they say 'finish appears to be fine and just needs dusting.' If that's true why don't they dust it or clean it a little to make it look nicer for the camera? Sorry - but I've talked to the guy that does the listings and he told me how he came up with his numbers - he just irritates me. You can't find any good machines anymore in the stores around here. And they aren't selling online - they just keep getting re-listed.

If you can do what I usually do is buy the machines in the cities that I have buddies in get them to pick them up and if they come down my way or I go there I will get them then. I have even had a few items travel around the country on a relay before they have gotten to me like my Singer storefront lighted signs. It only took 8 months to get them but it was worth it and only cost me a case of beer.

How does he come up with his numbers?

I watch....most of the stores around here are getting outrageous, but the private parties (Craig's List and yard sales) are still usually pretty good....they just think they're getting rid of an old machine that no one wants anyway...

Sounds like somebody knows nothing about a Singer 66, it doesn't have a removable bobbin case. As for the plug...I'd just do a motorectomy and treadle it.

He looks around at auction sites and appraisal sites. He doesn't seem to take into consideration what things are actually going for. They had a 99 one time in really bad shape, I had just bought mine for $40 all the other Goodwills were listing low without reserves, CL had lots of good one and yet they still thought theirs should go for over $75. I think if you are going to have a reserve, start it there.

Thank you - I thought it looked familiar, but it wasn't clear enough for me to be sure of the decals. I was pretty sure it was a 27/28.

I am going on a mystery quilting retreat in NH with my sister's next week. (There will be around 100 people total attending.) I've got my material all cut out (no clue what it will end up as, but hey, is a mystery!) Anyways, I am taking my featherweight for the first time. This was the original excuse I gave myself to buy it and so I thought I'd better spend some quality time with miss Daisy before we drive off on our trip. I don't know how I could have forgotten how nice she sews! And tonight for the first time I tried FMQ with my FW - and it came out beautifully! I'm not going to miss hauling the larger machines and worrying a the computer components. Sewing on this machine just kind of makes me smile. Anyone else bring older machines to retreats full of newer shinier models?

I hope to be able to go to some retreats and if I do all I have are vintage ladies to bring.
