Yes, I got a white FW in perfect shape, even the case is in great shape, all the attachments for $250. The gal that had the machine is a friend of mine and she knew I wanted one, but couldn't afford one off of E-bay. I have seen the white ones sell for $1,000 and more. I won't even bid on them. She had this one - I think it was a payment or something for some quilting she did - and she offered it to me. I told her I could only afford to pay $250 and she said it was mine!

How could I pass that up?

You just couldn't and nor would anyone else here pass that up!!! Just happy I won my Ebay bid for my black FW.

Vintagemotif directed me to a FW advertised for $100 on Craigslist because the people that had the machine thought it was ruined - motor burned up. We went to look at the machine, my DH says buy it. I trusted DH's assessment and got it for $75. The only thing we had to do was buy a new foot pedal and cord! So yes, I got a FW for under $100! It sews perfectly!

I'd get it if I were you. Also do you know the front left leg swings out under the lid to help support the lid. Will also give you more leg room under the machine. I have a 301 and love that machine but the cabinet I have like this one holdes my 319.

Billy should have a HC and he should be able to tell you how to add it.

The 15-88 has a spoked wheel. I bought a HC from Billy and my DH mounted it on my 15-88 in about 2 seconds! Very easy to do! So my 15-88 is a treadle and HC! I love winding bobbins with the HC - much easier for me than treadling the bobbin winder! Plus it is very easy to start and stop with a HC!
If you put a HC on the 15-88, you will love the way it handles.

You should be happy, that is an unheard of deal! Somehow that machine slipped through the wires! Please post pictures when you get it home.

New question....

Were the FW's and the 301's the only flip up bed machines produced? Or did other company's besides Singer do some. Did Singer do any other models with flip up beds?

I'm curious... my MIL just told me she had a flip up. She thinks it's a FW (it's in a case, on the floor, in the back of her sewing room gathering dust bunnies...). I seem to remember that her daughter has the FW. So now I'm wondering what the heck my MIL might have. (I go to her house tomorrow to check...).

If she has a 301A, I want it!!! But, <sigh> I know her, and she'll drive a hard bargain... :(

Hurry up and go buy it!!!!! I love my 301's but, even so, those cabinets for the 301's are hard to come by!!!

Cathy.... okay so it IS a 301. Short bed extension though, right? Does that make a difference? Should I 'wait' til I find the long extension one? I love the cabinet too. What do you use your 301's for? (What are they good for). And... what questions should I ask the owner when I call her tonight about it... should I offer her $75 and hope she takes $100?

WELL... the owner is out of town until the end of the month.... so I have some time to decide. I DID find out (thanks to ?? who posted the cabinet specs, that my 66-16, the 301A and the 201A I'm considering buying... can all fit in the Model 40 standard cabinet I already have. They'll also change out to the Deco cabinet as well - supposedly.
