All of my service manuals I picked up from Sewing repair shop buy outs, but you should be able to find the service manuals out there somewhere.

I have seen a couple on Ebay. But, I think that they were copies of the timing and wiring diagrams, not sure. There are folks out there who have found an original, make copies (either paper or CD) and then sell them on ebay. Not sure if that's actually legal or not. If Singer keeps up their copyrights, than it's not. Most people think that anything prior to 1923 is out of copyright, but that's not necessarily the case.

Teak is one of the woods that need oil to preserve the finish. If the cat stuff left a stain in the wood you can mix equal parts baking soda and corn starch with a little water to make a paste and put on the stain until removed. Then teak oil several times to even out the color. If not to bad you can just use cornstarch dry over the stain. I hope you are lucky and no staining. Glenn

Glenn, you are such a wealth of info. I was lucky. I got to it in time. I used a mild paste cleanser and wiped it off. Let it dry, then used teak oil. It looks okay, a little lighter, but so faint you can hardly see it. I ended up oiling all the teak in the LR. What a job. But it needed it.

Glenn, the Treadleon Workshop has directions on building display and handcrank machine bases. Blueprints and plenty of pics.

Anyone who ever gets a chance should attend a Ray White machine repair seminar. His web site has a listing of sites. We had him come to our town and it is not hard to do. You find a place, perhaps a LQS, for as cheap as you can and play host. You used to get a discount if so many came to the seminar. He also holds classes in MO, where he lives. He also brings lots of supplies and parts and sells them cheaper to students. Ray used to have a CD with lots of manuals on it. I don't know if he sells it on his website or not. Whitesewingmachine.com, I think.

This is a transverse shuttle machine, hence the skinny slide plates. It has an open shuttle; easy to change.

Ok Miz Johnny even if it is a TS, which I believe is the boat shuttle, it still looks really skinny. I would love to see that machine in person and watch you use it. Did the ad say how much it weighed. What a really nice find for you.
