Could someone please tell me what this pony club is about? We have pony clubs here but you actually have to have a pony, lol.

We all bought a book called the Farmer's Wife Sampler Pony Club. By Laurie Hird (I probably spelled it wrong.) It has 90 blocks & is so fun ta read about the kids gittin' their pony's. She choose a block that represented each story. Some o' us are done makin' their blocks & the rest o' us will be makin' blocks for a while ta come. (Like me. ) We'd be happy for ya ta join us.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends, I hope you have a wonderful day filled with family and friends and turkey. I have never cooked a turkey so please QNS if you have a spare drumstick in the RV its mine

Bev I hope things settle down for you and your family and your DGM is able to celebrate with you.

Anael and QuiltE we will just have to meet up at the RV for a sampling of QNS' fabulous hospitality.

Will post pics of my finished Pony Club top on the weekend, tomorrow is a busy day for me and I was hoping someone else would post the first pic

For 3 am on the clock, you explained Pony Club very well, Dublb. Hope things are getting better shortly for you.

honchey, remembering you in early morning prayers; hope you all get better and on the road to recovery.

Yes,, Mirabelle, in the virtual RV is turkey and stuffing ... one with oysters, the second with pieces of chicken in the stuffing. Green bean casserole, Sweet Potato casserole, Ham is comin' , and baked beans, green beans, mashed potatoes, 5 cup salad, 7 layer salad, salad fixings, incredible sweet corn, desserts: crunch, brownies, cake and pies.

Gotta go bake that turkey and make the dressing. You all take care and have a good day.

QNS---I hope that I can be like you when I "grow up". That menu sounds great!

My sisters and I will do most of the cooking..Mom never really enjoyed it much so she is happy to turn over her kitchen to us. We will be having much of the same, the only addition I can add is a carrot casserole...very yummy. It is funny I had asked Mom Tuesday if she wanted me to bring it and she said no she thought there would be enough. Then Wednesday when she and my sister were at the store, my sister called and said "are you bringing that carrot casserole?" LOL I gave her the recipe and she is going to bring it instead.

In case anyone wants to try it, here is the recipe:
    1 med chopped onion
    3T. Butter
    4c. cooked carrots
    1 can cream of celery
    1 can milk
    1/2t. salt
    2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
    1/2c. butter melted
3c. stuffing mix (fine, more like bread crumbs)

Brown onion in 3T butter. Set aside 1/4c. cheese. Combine the onion, carrots, soup, milk, salt and cheese. In separate bowl mix melted butter and stuffing. Then stir all together put in 2 1/2qt casserole, top with cheese.

Bake at 350...30min covered, 15 min uncovered.

Mmmmmm......the RV smells good this morning! Bev, I pray that your family has an uneventful day and that you can enjoy each others company. Honchey, you didn't say if your health would keep you from getting together with the family. I pray that you and your DH have strength and are showered with much love today. Carrie, sounds like your family enjoys some wonderful traditions. Will you give your daughter the sewing box today too? QNSue...you sound like a Pearl Mesta...the hostess with the mostest. I bet people love to be in the kitchen with you and help keep things moving. Thanks for the virtual RV so our continental friends can enjoy the meal with us. Mirabelle...do you have anything similar to our Thanksgiving? And another question that might sound stupid...do you have turkeys in Aussie land?
My turkey breast is being cooked in a crockpot so I'm not sure when we will eat. The oven went out long before I got here and DH doesn't want to replace the stove until he finishes the kitchen counters. I'm not holding my breath. It's already been two years to get a plug-in rewired and a new ceiling done. I've come to the conclusion that relationships are more important than things so I enjoy everything he does do and don't complain about what he doesn't.

    Here's my fresh cranberry sauce.
    One bag fresh cranberries
juice of one medium orange...zest from the peel
    1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar
    1 tbs fresh shredded ginger.
put all ingredients in pan and bring to boil. The berries will pop. Reduce heat and cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens some and remove from heat.
This beats anything that you can buy in a can.

It's just past breakfast, and you all have me drooling with all this delicious food.

A tradition with my "adopted" family are
Creamed Onions ... way better than you might think!! :)
They're always a hit ... and should there be any leftover, which seldom happens ... they make a great base for a leftovers casserole or a soup. mmmmmm!!!!!!!

Carrie ... you have my attention with those carrots! Will be saving that as a Christmas potential

MiraB ... I can't wait!! I can't wait!! I can't wait!! to see your PC all together!! YIppppeeeee!!!!!!!!
Same question ... no turkeys in Aussie-Land? Hard to believe that'd be possible!!

GGal ... turkey breast in the crock cooks pretty fast. You'll find it's nice and juicy. As a suggestion, raise it up, so it doesn't sit in the drippings. I have a small dish that fits in upside down that works when I do a turkey breast or a meatloaf.

QNSue ... thanks for your all-inclusive RV, I think we non-Americans really are celebrating with you folks! I can almost smell the turkey cooking!!

DublB ... and please correct me Honchey, if I'm wrong ... my take is that we will still posts our 90 blocks in the weekly threads and this thread will be for the bonus blocks, any sub-blocks, and of course the completed quilt tops. Also, I guess, it'd be the place to post pics of the WIP tops as we work away at determining the placement, etc.

Am I on track here Ladies?

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you all!
It's a perfectly beautiful mild November day here ... and will top off at 12C!!
so I hope it's as glorious for you as you enjoy all your festivities.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Very quiet here in janRN land. Just DH & I so like Ggal, just doing a turkey breast. Although not in crockpot. Laughing, Ggal, because my kitchen has been torn up since January. I'm working around a ladder, drill, extension cords, etc. Clutter drives me nuts but you are so right: relationships are more important. After 42 yrs of marriage, I'm resigned to the fact that he's messy/I'm neat. After dinner we're going to a Festival of Trees. They have donated, decorated trees on display that are actioned off in 2 weeks for charity. Some are so creative: railroad tree, Steelers tree (of course), and lots done by local businesses to reflect their business. Always lots of fun.

Please everyone, have a great day and give your loved ones an extra hug along with that extra helping of pumpkin pie.
    Peace-Jan
I pray for peace today and hope I don't have to tomorrow.

Yes we do have turkeys down under, a lot of Aussies living in the southern states cook them for Christmas lunch, which is our important day.
Because we have lived in very hot areas we keep our Christmas lunch very simple, chicken, ham, lots of prawns and a selection of salads and maybe a hot potato dish. I have just never cooked a turkey, when I was younger my grandmother always cooked duck and pork for Christmas.

Honchey my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family on this important day for you, there is certainly a lot to be thankful for.

QuiltE you will just have to wait a little longer I am about to dash out the door to head to my embroidery club for the day, but of course had to pop in to say hi to everyone

What a terrible accident in Texas, it made our news this morning.
