Oh, Nena. I love it ... I love it ... I love it. But it looks so hard. Curved seams?? Please tell us, how did you make this one. I really do love it. Did I say that already?

Nena: That quilt is just beautiful! Did you do the quilting yourself? I'd also like to know how you did those curved seams. Simply gorgeous!

Nena: Love your Clam Shell! As Jean and Michelle have said, would love to hear your journey to producing this beauty!

Thanks everyone. My niece wanted to make one so she wanted me to order her the small die for the go cutter.
I knew I did not want to make one that small so I ordered the 8in for me. She is doing the small by hand. I did not have a pattern so kept looking at it and not knowing how to start it. On day I said hey its for me. Just do it. The top row I sewed about an inch at the sides together to take it across the top how big I thought I wanted it. My DD had bought me an old 1934 machine that was strait stitch and that really helped. After the first row it went pretty well. I was really surprised.
My niece saw it and came to my house for a couple of days and started her one. When she went home she said it was so much easier on that old machine. Lots of boo boos, But I still like it. I did the quilting FM on the LA. and just turned the backing over for the binding.

Oh by the way lots of pins. lol Ease it in and pin about every inch. when you sew let the fabric sort of curve as you sew. hth. Like putting in a sleeve for a dress.

Well Nena, I couldn't sleep last night because I kept thinking about how to make your clam shell quilt. I really want to make one of those. I guess it's easy to see why I get UFOs..... gotta do yet another quilt I fall in love with.
