ECHO Congrats on the new machine.

I'm thinking I want a long arm. Don't ask me how I would pay for it because I just don't know. But that makes a fabric stash seem small in comparison.

I like everyone's reasoning on thoughts of stash...the 'keeping it fresh' is great and also, "comparing stash to a long-arm machine'. Makes all of our stashes seem pretty insignificant when thinking like that. I think they are around $16,000 or the ones I have seen are ...if not more. I think everyone is doing well. I sent off a quilt to the nice LA lady today. Could find no one close to take up the challenge so I knew she could. If she posts a picture here on the board, I will share a link. I already have the binding ready for when it comes back. :-)

Someone mentioned it was boring when we are all being good. OK. I'll sacrifice myself just to keep things lively. Last Thursday, I went to my class at the LQS with my gift certificate burning a hole in my wallet. I had been toying with the idea of making a quilt for an upcoming wedding shower, and found the perfect fabric. Good so far, as I will use it immediately. However, when I took it to the cutting counter, I saw this:

I'm a sucker for batiks (it's not but it looks like one) and birds, and blue... so I got a couple yards, took it home and introduced it to the rest of my stash.
I have already completed the wedding shower top, using the purchased fabric + stash. Hope to get the quilting done today and post a picture by the end of the week.

Ok..I added to my stash in a big way. Yesterday our DS and DIL presented us with our 11th Grand, a little baby girl.
Now that's a stash I never want to get smaller....

I have been BAD this month. We are visiting my MIL and the local quilt shop is going out of business. I HAD to make some purchases at $6.99 a yard and 20% additional if you finish the bolt. Sale on all kits. Since we are visiting for a month I am counting my purchases as "vacation" purchases. LOL We will be making a trip to Amish country later this week and I am afraid I will need to make some purchases there. I haven't been very good this year, but have thought twice about purchases and actually didn't purchase as much as I usually do. Even though I have been making some purchases, this year I have made up a lot of things from stash. Once I get back home I will post pictures as I am putting the binding on a lot of things while here. In a week and a half I have put binding on a twin size t-shirt quilt, queen size quilt with stars, queen size double wedding ring quilt and a wall hanging. All from fabrics/kits I have had for awhile.

congratulations on the newest grand! That's a great stash you have there.

We just got back from NH and visiting our DD, DSIL and only grand. I didn't ask to stop at our favorite pottery store or at any fabric stores. Today, I had to visit the chiropractor and we passed a very nice fabric shop, but again, I didn't stop. I still have that one quilt I need to start and I have most of the fabric cut and waiting to be sewn. No fabric until I at least start sewing that one together.

Besides, I work in a school and this is school break and we're in for rain all week. I won't be able to do so many of the things I had on my to-do list and it's depressing, so I have to find different things to do. Quilting will be one of those things, which is not a problem, but it's also colder again. Deep down cold and damp. The kind where I just want to curl up with a quilt and a book or my knitting and not come out for a while. It's like November this week, not April

We also won't be doing any gardening until late in May, maybe later by the way things are going here in Maine. All our snow hasn't gone yet.

I won a charm pack as a door price tonight and it's real pretty. Thought about passing it on for a second but then I decided to bring it home. Not often that I win something. Tomorrow I am taking a workshop from Cindy Needham on whole cloth quilting. SOOOOO EXCITED! She gave a lecture at our guild tonight and it was wonderful.

Princess: Thank you so much for your sacrifice and the cherry on the top a picture. Love that Batik so pretty, actually never seen anything like it. Your contemporary quilt is gorgeous. I really think that style appeals the post to the younger generation. I'm sure it will be treasured.
OK: Congrats on the newest addition. Grandchildren are such a blessing and their such a easy way to get revenge on your children.
Sophie: You've been incredibly productive. I picture the whole back of your car stacked with lovely FINISHED quilts.
Laurie: So sorry your getting it again. You guys have really had such an awful winter and it just seems to go on and on. Well at least it is almost May and you just have to get some good weather. We have had the lowest snow pack on record so we are facing drought conditions this summer. We've had beautiful weather but it is getting very serious in terms of water. Scarey stuff.
Martina: I am so envious! I think whole piece quilts are so beautiful. Please share your progress as you move along. Maybe someday I'll try it, seems like it would be relaxing.
So much fun to hear what everyone is doing. I purchased some fabric, solids from Moda in Barn Red, white and black. Pretty much a quilters staple, although I did buy the red to go with other fabrics from my stash to make a Ricky Tims' Kaleidoscope quilt. I'm so excited by this project. He makes it amazingly doable. It's a new avenue of quilting for me, I have no idea what I will come up with but sure am going to enjoy the process.
