I have been remarkable good this year , in comparison to many years of accumulating stash. Up till today I had not purchased a morsel of fabric. I did have a falling off ... Fabric.com is doing away with their frequent buyer program... so I had a discount coupon good for $25.00 off I had to use before they eliminate the program ... so yes I did consume all of my coupon and had to add a few more yards for the free shipping. To my credit .. I did use the coupon for a wide backing and just had to surf the clearance section .. and added two more pieces. I feel like I let the horse out of the barn... and it took every ounce of discipline to not continue my behavior. I was feeling compelled to just peek at some other sites... So I am came here to distract myself from what could have been a wholesale falling off.

We went to the Scottish Highland Games today and I was sure that there would be no fabric tempation. WRONG! They had the most lovely linen with cutwork. However, it was a bit pricey and while I was tempted, I did say no.

Congrats to Lori for showing great restrain in not buying lots of sale fabric.

So so far this last 1/2 of month I have not bought anything. Baby steps. Next week I need to buy a few f-Q's to swap with other quilters. I do not own any sweet type of fabric or garden type of fabric for swaps. I will probably buy 4-6 f-Q's to swap out.

I'm still working on my numerous projects, none finished yet. Had to stop to move my sewing machine and other items back to my sewing room. I have gone through 2/3 of my stash and tried to organize toward usefulness and projects I want to finish in the next few years. The rest went downstairs. So that has been keeping me from buying lots.

Happylab, working thru my stash always helps me to realize 'I already have so much' I don't need more. Looks like it's doing the same for you!

Emma..Love your new machine. Bet it will make you very happy. Martina, going to Highland Games sounds really fun in itself let alone looking at fabric. Glad you resisted though. I dumped a whole big apple box size of fabric out today and sorted. One pile was for the stuffing pile, one was to give away and one pile was to iron and cut up into useable pieces. Then the balance will go to either one of the two aforementioned piles. Then I took the stuffing pile, which consisted of scraps and pieces too tiny to use for anything and a piece of fabric that someone had given me that used to be a couch throw and made a small pillow, then stuffed it lightly with the trash clippings. I will donate it to an animal shelter, either here or in next town after I get a few more made. They can use them and then toss if they don't want to wash but at least they will have a bit longer life cycle and then it will be someone else's decision whether to recycle or trash. But mainly it is getting used up and will be out of my sewing room and storage closet. My vow at first of year was to begin using up what I have before I buy more so still trying to keep to my intentions. But going through bins and boxes really gives me encouragement to stick to the moratorium!

Thanks Rhonda Lee, I see how fast a stash could grow and I really can't afford that. The quilts I want for the house has already increased to 12 lol.
