Thanks Emma..
Sherry..I just checked on the 4 items the Alumni donated...we were pleased, especially when the ISU basket brought a little more than the Iowa one. LOL

The $500 our four baskets earned goes to a fund to reduce the cost of membership of each 4-Her. When my kids and I were members there was no cost. Now it is $30 a year per member. Next year there will be 3 Grands in the program, so this is near and dear to me.

Yay for ISU! There were some really cute baskets, what a great idea for a fund raiser for 4-H; no cost when I was in either - I suppose everything costs more now, like admin and meeting sites, etc. I really liked the barn quilts and thought about bidding, but I don't even have a spot for a 2 foot one, my house just isn't built to hang something like that.

I used to have a banner that read: "Today is the first day of the rest of your life." For those (including me) who fell off the wagon, TODAY is the time to get back on! We are at the half-way point in the year. And from what I can see most of the folks who post regularly have done a bang up job of not purchasing fabric or purchasing just what was needed. Myself included except for the June batiks.

I am so glad this is a FABRIC moratorium as I just somehow managed to purchase a used quilting frame from Nolting - a Hinterberg frame that can be disassembled and stored when not in use. I had planned to also purchase a mid-arm from them, but discovered it was way too heavy for me to lift on and off the frame. So.... I am now saving for a Bailey Home Quilter Pro 15. I'm aiming for that to be my Christmas present to myself. That goal will also help keep me out of trouble fabric-wise as every yard I don't buy will add to the Bailey pot. I'll put my Brother 1500s on the frame in the meantime to get a feel for "long arm" quilting.

Belfry: So excited for you. Please include us in your exploration of your new toy. I'm especially interested in your experimentation with your 1500s since I own one. Would really like to hear the pros and cons. Periodically I get tempted but then consider my age and talk some sense into myself. While I can't justify a $6K setup a frame might be doable. Can't wait to hear.

Glad you like it Sherry...I had thought of making one pad the blossom, the next a bud, the next a pad with an appliqued frog and the last just a lily pad...but kept it simple with one 1 design repeated 4 x. Hope the instructions were clear..

I'm not sure if I mentioned the mustard yellow binding fabric I bought for the Ginger Cat Quilt. Now that I'm actually getting the FMQing to work I'm getting excited.

By the way the computer is back in the repair shop for the third time. Hopefully when I bring it home this time I'll be able to put the fabric pictures in it and share it. That's my hope anyway.

Post 753 shows pictures of a fabric basket I made for a local fundraiser...there were other baskets included in the silent auction. And the row by row is the one my LQS is selling in conjunction with the Row by Row experience nationwide and in Canada as well. I happened to design the water lily pattern for the LQS that Sherry is talking about. If you are interested to find out more on the rbyr here is the link.

Oksewglad thanks for the information, I did look at the picture, and funny, but a shop in Saginaw Mi did water lily for the R by R. And for information she said extra kits could be purchased for others. I suppose several shops have done water lilies too. I haven't finished my R by R from last year..........should that be another thread? thanks,, calla
