Back finally.. What a nite.. It seems the consensus is my newest machine is a 101, eh? There is a book with it. I haven't compared it yet. Been a crazy night! I don't know if the book is the same as the machine..will look at it tomorrow. Thanks for all the input. It is really appreciated!

Now my Rocketeer might fit on the top of the toilet water tank ![/quote]

LOL I love it! :D

Well the machine is really to new for me but I am going to call about it!! Its funny now that I have gotten into the 1870's and 1880's machines the newer 1900+ machines just do not fancy me as much.

But that is a gorgeous cabinet!!!

Billy
That is beautiful. Can you imagine what it wieghs? The treadles are heavy for me! It is special though! Price surely is right!

Is the thread routed the right way? Is the spring keeping the tension on the thread when the take up lever is doing its thing?

Billy
yes it working fine. Just little or no tension when I sew. The tread just sets on top of the fabric. It's so loose that when I pull it out of the machine to cut the tread, it all pulls out.
Do you have a manual for the 201? Or any Singer? Make sure you have your bobbin in correct and that you have it threaded right to left in the needle.

I had some bobbin tread jam, but I got it all. So is my problem with the bobbin tension and not the top tread tension?

You need to adjust the lower tension if the thread is sitting on top of the material. There will be a small screw that you will need to adjust. but only tighten it a 1/4 turn each time you do it.

I just quickly looked at the book...it said 201. I'm too tired to compare it to the machine at this point. Save it for the morning..
