I'm in the same boat as you are. Oh I like them in other peoples quilts, but they make me sick to my stomach when I sew them, so I don't like them for me. Don't like tye dyes either.

There are some batiks that I really love and some not so much. I am working of a batik braid right now and I am very happy with how it is turning out. I see more in my future.

I like batiks but wouldn't go out of my way for them. Have used a couple as accents in my quilts but don't see myself ever making an entire project with them. Guess I'm just more traditional. Have seen some beautiful quilts made with batiks, however.

I not into batiks either. I have a few remnants which I think was a scrap bag from Keepsake quilting & a layer cake of batiks that I use in applique & landscapes. I've seen pictures of some beautiful batik quilts...but when I look at the bolts of fabric I can't imagine using them in anything...that's why I buy small amounts. Maybe someday I'll learn to love them!

Im with you Vondae, I dont care for them either, and can't stand the way they feel. Stick a pin in one and the hole won't go away, why is that?

Some I like, but many I do not. The ones I like become less attractive when I see the price.

I think there are certain quilts that just look so awesome with Batiks! Here is an example: I hope the attachments work.
This pattern is "Think Inside the Box" and the batiks make it look like Japanese lanterns. (At least I think so) :-)

I will admit I like the way many of them look but as a handquilter I hate quilting them. So many of them are very tightly woven and the layers of color make it hard to get a hand needle through them. I fell for one of those jelly rolls of batiks and took it on my last quilt retreat. I will admit that I only got it half pieced and it will probably lay around until I get desperate enough to finish making the top.

the best thing about Batiks,is that there is no right/wrong side.and tht they do not ravel/fray.That is if they are true batiks
