Vintage Sewing Machine Shop.....Come on in and sit a spell
Okay, I picked up the Necchi Supernova, that my sister, with help from Monica, got for me. It is Super heavy!! It is dirty with the usually dust, grime, etc. If you look past that, It looks to be in very nice condition, a very unique base that it sits on, which adds to the weight. She also picked up a manual, a Necchi accessory box, Necchi bobbins, an extra Necchi bobbin case. There are two foot controls; will have to see which one works.
If it was not for you Monica, I would not have this machine, once again Thank you!

IF you ever wish to treadle this machine, it will be my pleasure to show you how to set it up.
Enjoy!!
Help! I finally got my New Home Climax irons shed of the rust, the broken wheel hub welded, and everything painted. Now, the treadle wheel grinds against the wood of the base. These pieces have been apart since 1966 (until me, it was a one family machine).
Which part do I change? I put washers in between the irons and the wheel and it STILL hits. I'm also not thrilled about how little the hub locknut has to grab now that there is a shorter length of bolt. My first idea was to shave down the offending wood bits but worry about altering the cabinet.
Suggestions?

Candace your Pfaff has a very interesting extension bed.glad you are getting this machine to sew for you.
The Lady Kenmore model 89 is for sure not the same machine as a Supernova. The Lady Kemore is actually the same machine as the Pfaff 280. Both were made by Gritzner-Kayser. Though Sears sold the Lady Kenmore and Pfaff the 280. I know all this because I've been searching for a decent priced Lady Kenmore for about a year!

More washers or wood strip running along length of each side?

Well, I FINISHED my nemesis machine, the Pfaff 332. It had countless issues when I got it. I had someone very familiar with this model tweak it and it still had problems. This machine has been loved HARD. It has many war wounds and love bites:> It was a big lesson to me to have patience and not force things. I forced the belt in it a little too hard and snap. There went $55. I had to completely remove the motor, resolder some connections, clean it. Then I had to remove the hook and do some adjustments. It finally sews a straight stitch and zig zag without problems now. Yippee! It's so heavy that it will kill me to take out of the house. But, dang it. I'm going to use it!
I am going to get the 260 out tonight and try it again. DH has been gone for most of the last couple days playing racquetball! When we plugged the machine in - it was just to see if it would run using only the left side of the plug. I had the clutch disengaged and was just running the motor and light. I tried the knee control. It all worked - I didn't try sewing with the machine because I was worried about overloading something since we didn't have the proper cord! I will let you know when I get it out again - but, like you said with the 332 - these Pfaffs weigh a ton! Not easy to move around at all! Now I am really curious to try sewing with just the left side of the plug! I will report back!

I bought a 301 a few weeks ago so I thought I would clean it up. I got it all cleaned up - really impacted with lint... Then I thought I would test it - wound up a bobbin... when I put it in the case the whole thing flipped out of my hand - the bobbin went one way and the case went the other. I found the bobbin right away. The bobbin case... Well, I cleaned the floor in every direction. Moved piles of junk. Got out the light. Looked under stuff then I looked over stuff and around stuff... sifted through the trash can. ATE LUNCH... ggggrrrrrrr. Got a broom out again. Swept the far corners and under things it couldn't be under but needed sweeping out..... Put some stuff away. Got distracted a hundred times. Found the cord that I was hunting for for a week - the one that would have tested Nancy's Pfaff machine... Ok. sigh.... WHERE CAN A BOBBIN CASE GO???? I looked under the wall, in the door frame - there are gaps in there... I have a telescoping magnet thingy so I dug around until I found it. Then I ran it under and around everywhere - collected all kinds of stuff EW that shop is dirty. No bobbin case. I went around the room again. Finally I ran it around the table leg of the industrial machine I need to get re-homed... that little 301 bobbin case was stuck inside the table leg. Go figure - that thing had to really spin to get hung up there.

candace I had that wrong lady kenmore = a pfaff 280 sorry .. there is one for sure listed on c/l at 150 and another look sure looks like the L kenmore but again they want 150
Red that climax , I see your in washington, in portland on c/l there are about 6 or 7 listed.
The flywheels are cast iron any cast matrail bends before it breaks, so having it welded most likely made teh bend even worst... I would think any new home wheel would fit ??
here's the cheapest one listed, some where in oregon I did recently see an add for a climax don't remember which city

I posted on the picture site...oops! But...I'm wondering how many people relacquer their machines. I'm working on a 201 that I stripped to the bare metal. Then primed, repainted, and now relacquering with new decals...I'll post once done but I'm curious who does complete restores.
