Check to make sure the needle is all the way up in the needle bar. It's also possible that the knicks on your bobbin case were put there before you got it--by someone trying to use the 15 x 1 needles. Have you tried to sew on it again since the Unfortunate Event??

Does anyone know much bout a Singer 66-? I looked up the serial number and it ssays it was made in 1949. It has all of its parts except for the power cord. I have pm'ed Billy about that. I also need a manual since I have no idea on how to operate it.
I saw it at a second hand store, and it looked at me and "asked" me to take it home with me, so I did. I hope I have not done something stupid.
Also what is an average price on thise 301s that everyone keeps talking about? I take it that they are ideal for quilting. Gosh - this is SO contagious!

Haven't had a chance cause DH is still in there trying to figure out how the hook works. lol I went in just now and looked and when you turn the handwheel, the needle is hitting the bobbin race. I'm wondering if the needle bar has slipped. Actually, at a total loss of what to do.

Yes, it says to use the number 1 cam even when sewing a straight stitch.
