My current collection (I'm an absolute newbie):
#1 - Singer Red-Eye that I plan to convert to a treadle. But um, the cat knocked over the bowls of parts after I'd neatly organized them. They fell behind a table in the corner of the room and I haven't had the heart to re-organize them... But that's another story...

#2 - Montgomery Wards Signature c1974, I think. Given to me by a neighbor (original owner who hardly used it), to replace my very first (plastic) Singer which died on me. This is my main machine. I absolutely adore it.

#3 - Singer Featherweight 221 - JUST got her for Christmas; another find in a New England antique store. Story is it was a wedding gift to a woman who never learned to sew; her relatives found it in her attic after she died. I'm owner 2. I haven't used her yet.

#4 - Signature - found this in a New England antique shop-- they practically gave it to me because it's stuck, stuck, frozen stuck. I haven't started working on her yet. I believe her serial # is 547245

Heh, not sure how that last one got in there. Bought it last year -- also in New England. While it "worked," (turned on), I couldn't get it to sew. I gave her away to someone willing to spend time in her.

It will not sew until I find the missing parts and re-manufacture one part (so far)
I am missing the shuttle, bobbin, and the slide plates (i'll probably end up making the slide plates)
I am still de-rusting all of the bits.
The spool holder is so stuck that the iron twists rather than releasing (currently) I brought it to the office to see if our ultrasonic cleaner can help free it up, if not, next we try heat....
I am hoping to finish the cleaning in the next day or two, then the painting begins...
I am currently NOT planning to disassemble the main driveline.
I am going to clean it as best as I can without removing anything
ALL of the motions/timings are driven off of that shaft and I do not have faith that I can ensure that it goes back the same.
Besides, it's kinda cool to know that part was hand set at the factory.

Here are mine....got all 3 this Dec.
1932 Singer 27 Hand Crank
1924 Singer 66 Red Eye Treadle, had to refinish the cabinet as it was very bad. The machine was just a clean up and replacement of the spool pin, presser foot, still need to get the red felt for spool pin.
1893 Singer VS2 27 Treadle, cleaned the cabinet other then that it is original. Need to do more work on the machine.

I bought a 201-2 on Christmas Eve. My present to me, I guess. The cabinet is in ok shape, someone took a70's era cabinet and put the 201 in it. Didn't do a really good job, but DH or SIL can repair. The machine just needed a wipe down and she runs. Might call her Amanda after the young girl I bought it from. She's a new mom and wanted a newer machine after her husband bought this one. Imagine! I'll have to watch the post for hints on the care and upkeep, she's different from my others.
