It was lovely today here too. We replanted 4 trees that had died. And I planted some flower seeds. All & all a good day.

Spring has sprung & I have been outside. We planted the Fava beans today.
Today I also did some sewing. I finished a charity quilt & got the purple strips sewn end to end. The ones that are gonna be used in a quilt for DFGD. Anyway the purple ones are sewn & pressed but the black ones are only sewn end to end.

Snow in Northern Iowa again. More rain, more flood waters for Nebraska and Iowa along the river ways. The taping of a man coming back to view his farm, the sixth generation brought tears to my eyes. His 140 year old family home gone completely, his tools and tractors, belongings. etc. all gone. Cattle gone somewhere. As he topped the ridge to see the homestead...he broke into tears. They literally ran from the 12 foot ice pack and water advancing on them at a high rate of speed. They did make it to safety.

As I was typing on my computer Sunday morning, everything went black. A small 'pop' sound. No light or overhead fan working. But we had a date with his cousin and his wife to play cards and eat KFC; so away we went and then came back in early evening to deal with whatever had happened. Turns out, we were very lucky not to have had an electric fire from the plug in back of the computer. It melted down the plastic in the plug in and turned several inches of wire black. We turned off the breaker switch, and I slept the night in the guest room. It all got repaired this afternoon and lights came on, the computer and TV working again.Wow, life is suddenly better. I can smile again., feeling very blessed on our 53rd wedding anniversary on the 24th of this month. All is well that ends well.

Happy Anniversary QNS!

Glad the electrical problem wasn't worse, and is now fixed.

We did a li'le work on the deck this morning. Then I went w/DD & her DMIL to a few antique/thrift shops. No sewing today. I'm not sure if I even feel like doing any later tonight. I'm too pooped to pop.

Had my knee surgery last Tuesday. I got a partial knee replacement, which means a faster recovery. I have graduated from my walker to a cane today! I take my pain pills every 6 hours religiously - and have not had any pain. See my Dr. again on Wednesday. I am blessed!!

Good news there, Jeanie! No pain is awesome! Be sure to do your exercises and therapy. It makes all the difference in getting back to 100%.

Well, all my 'required' sewing is done... the wedding dress I was altering is now gone, all diapers done for now, all baby sewing. So I have been happily playing with some scrap 5" squares I've had for too long. I made one donation quilt top with whole squares and white, and now I'm sewing the rest of the squares onto 5" white squares, to make 4.5" HSTs. It's just fun to mindlessly sew for a while!

50 degrees here this morning, and it looks like we may have more rain coming in. Good for washing away all the pine pollen!
