It was a good thing yesterday was the longest day of the year! We sped off at an early 6:30 am, hit a rain shower, detours and had problems finding a couple of the places, and found the nicest, friendly people along the way.Quilter 65 planned the trip well and drove us to nine out of ten shops. The tenth refused to wait ten minutes past her closing time....one we often used to purchase quilt fabrics and notions. I was the one who forgot her lunch! About 3:30 they took pity on me and pulled in to a Casey's and gassed the car up and let me buy a sandwich!

Not much to show from the trip...mainly a stop and see and hit the road for the next shop. Seen new and old, enjoyed the good company and the scenery along the way. Friendly folks re-directed us to a couple of shops that the internet failed to 'tell' where the shop was. Very thankful the Iowa deer the cleared the road ahead of us before we hit it. One shop at Nevada told us how to go on to the Ames shop on old 30 which saved us time and trouble of finding the shop there.

Have fun, SBG with your PC book. Good luck with it.

That trip would wear me out, QNS...phew

In the midst of county fair here...kids showed their animals yesterday--7 head in all for the 3 of them. I worked in cattleman's ribeye sandwich stand for 4-H alumni group and am really beat after 5 hours of working..work again tomorrow night.

Sunday afternoon we head east with the 5 grands on our trip...sometime after the 4th I hope to have my life back in order...ha...ha...til then....

Sue and Gladie, you make me tired! You are superwomen.

Gladie I'm mailing your selvedges today so they might not show up before you leave for your trip. Not like you would be able to do anything with them before you leave, I'm sure! Hope you have a great time.

Sue, LQS shopkeepers are notorious for cutting off their noses to spite their faces.

Whoo Hoo SBG! What a find! I am excited for ya.
Sue, that sounds like a very fun trip! I would have loved to go w/ya. Sorry that the 10th LQS didn't wait for ya'll.
OK, is there a normal? Well I hope so. DGK's are wonderful, but it looks like they are gonna be here in my house for a while. I am a li'le bit overwhelmed at the moment.

While I am thinking about it does anyone want me to pick up some row X row kits from the quilt shop in Brownwood? I could pick up a few & ya'll could reimburse me. If I go to Midland I could do it there also. It looks like I am not going to Midland for a bit though.

Dublb, I have phone numbers to get as many kits as you would like in the RxR. Cindy Lou at Chariton, Iowa has "Girls on the Go: very cute, $11.50 per kit with lazer cut pieces . Jefferson Iowa had the bicycle per cut on their RxR or was that the Adel shop??? phone call could tell me.. Crazy Redhead has the outhouse kit...pattern is free I can look at mine to tell how much it is...both are so cute. We passed on all the others for one reason or another. The out house is tall; make any bath room door the 'in' decor. or split it in half and say "women above, men below" (angels and devils at play). Clariton is close by, so I could probably get there or call her. I did get a couple of license plates but passed on any others this year since I still have last year's on a bucket list to make a purse with them. Bondurant featured the Wind Generators or turbines located there. Her little shop of six months was so impressive and very friendly, helpful people there, lovely lilies where in bloom everywhere. We enjoyed that first stop the most...very nice store...and the Gypsy Lady pattern book there....I did not see its cost on it ... made it easier to leave it in the store. I did get a license plate there. Just let me know by email or PM. Smile and make everyone wonder what you have been up to this lovely day.

Thanks for the offers of kits, Bev and Sue. I've decided to pass on this year's quilt because I really don't love the theme. We got enough vehicles in last year's patterns! I'm just going to sit it out and watch what others make this time. Are any of you making a quilt?

No. SBG. No more quilts to make; I have more than enough to keep me busy. Working on them one at a time; have three ready to finish and a fourth finish planned as soon as I finish Mary's Log Cabin. Lord knows I am behind pm ,house work and have not been outside to work this Spring. Moving very slow...another year has past and I am feeling every minute of an older age. One day at a time; one hour at a time.

My right hand still hurts from ripping up the first border on the S&W. I pulled on it too hard to rilp it out. Wearing a 'support' wrist wrap...still hurts. Such is life. I love making a forward step and finishing the tops. Enjoy your weekend. It too shall pass.

Sorry you hurt your wrist, QNS. I also love to rip borders. I could never cut them as straight!

I am in Arkansas. Going to shop at Marshall's today. So very excited!

I am not making the Row X Rows. I thought that if anyone wants one I could pick it up for 'em.
Its raining! First rain in 4 weeks. I am so excited. However this rain came from the west & it was bad in Midland. DDIL told us yesterday that she was driving it in & had been very frightened. She said that she was so glad when she got home. This morning DH found these 2 links about the storm in Midland;

http://www.cbs7.com/content/news/Vid...430486713.html
I painted on & off all day yesterday. I almost have the second coat done. Just have one more wall. I ought to get in there & get it done but it is raining & all I want to do is sew. So I am sitting here playing on my computer instead of doing anything. LOL I guess I have gotta get moving & get that last wall done then I can sew.

Wow Bev - super slides from the Midland Storm. I can see why your daughter was frightened! Hope it has calmed down as it passes your way!

So sorry about your wrist QNS! You are the same age as me, and you seem to have a lot more energy than I do. LOL
