Have not noticed the lilacs; the tulips are ready to bloom. What are your flowers called, Janie?

Carrie, your BBs are wonderful. Love to see how each of us are putting them together.

Hello All ... well, I have my new machine home!!!!!!!
Talk about info overload and feeling overwhelmed.
I know I will love it ... just time and the learning curve to master.
Even managed to sew together some 4Ps for a D4P in between, as my teacher was interrupted by customers. I knew it might happen, as one girl was on her day off, and another at a funeral, so I went prepared. It was good, and let me get a better feel for the machine. And will be my first project with this machine, before I get into more difficult ones.

??And guess what?? ... there were big fat fluffy flakes this afternoon/tonight!

**reaches for one of QNSue CowGirl Cookies!!
    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm goooooooooooood!!!

QNSue ... glad that the news was so good, and the only prescription was coarse ground pepper! We always knew you were HOT STUFF ... now you'll be even more so! Time to celebrate!!!!!!!!!!

    DDamsel
... attagirl, show that man that you CAN DO! Good luck in your UPS delivery suprise. Hopefully it won't be long til you get your part as I am sure your laundry will be a mountain before too long! I'm sure your creative juices will be flowing on that L'il FFC block! Thank You! And if that MB happens to be for meeeeeeeeee, you can send them together! Ready for a midnight raid at QNSue's with me!!

Honchey ... what are the plans for those tweetie-birds? Any progress on your Pretty Ladies? Good plan ... get your own wheels. How about a little SMART car? Hopefully with all that cooking today, that you have made lots and now have minimal cooking for a spell. And what great delights are we feasting on tonight?

JeanieG ... oh dear! I'm sure you are beside yourself right now. Sitting and waiting for the results will be difficult for you ... and amidst the soggy home! Hopefully, all was high and dry with your sewing ... and you can keep at that to help keep you sane!

CarrieM ... buttttttt you have 3 built-in dishwashers!!! Congrats on your MB finish. I think that's the first of the MB quilts done? I don't know about the others, but, no I can't see the stitching. I'd really like to see some close ups to get a look at how you did this and to see what it looks like.

JanieW ... I'm almost thinking you are ahead of me! Not much happening here with spring flowers yet, though I did notice a bud on a few of my daffodils, and yes, a long long way away from lilacs showing signs of life. What are those pretty and fuzzy little purple flowers? Cousin of a crocus?

Jeanie, sorry for your really bad day. I hope the news is good when you go back to the derm. Water damage-what a mess one stupid pipe can make.

Carrie, your quilt turned out so cute. I like the extra blocks you added. Really cheerful and fun.

Oh yay for you QuiltE. Your machine is home. Does she have a name? I hope you have tons of fun on it.

Those flowers are wild prairie crocus. They are Manitoba's provincial flower and since I was born and lived in Manitoba until 2005, they are special to me. One of the very few happy childhood memories I have is me and my grandma finding the first crocus of spring as we walked the fields. Now I have them blooming in my Alberta flower bed.

    I'm a bit discouraged th'sevenin'.
First o' the 20 pinwheels 9 are backwards. I think I'm gonna only use 8 blocks & that'll git rid o' 5 o' 'em. Then I decided ta make the center pinwheels go the other direction so that means take back one o' the 5 left overs & use it w/the other center pinwheels. I haven't got any further than those planin' stages o' that quilt.
I decided t aput the yellow copin' strips on the blue & yellow quilt blocks. I made 'em too big on purpose. A couple o' the blocks are too small & had hoped that I could make up for it w/the copin' strips. Well at least one is still too small. I guess I'll take the yellow ones off o' that one & put blue ones then the yellow back on the outside like the others. Sigh again.
Then I played w/the embroidery machine. The design I wanted looked great on the practice piece but when I put it on QE's cute li'le block it drew it up a bit. Sigh yet again. I sure hope it doesn't make it too small, it's definitely a bit wavy. I'm so sorry
QE. If it doesn't work for ya let me know & send me the PP pattern & I'll remake it for ya.
All o' this after DH & I spent the mornin' tryin' ta go ta the eye DR. They rescheduled him for next week. Then signin' papers for the 2 lots & mailin' 'em off. We also took care o' some more o' DMIL's estate stuff. After all o' that his back was hurtin' so he took a nap & paid bills th'sevenin'.
    I do ramble on don't I.
Carrie - It's so nice ta come here & see your BB quilt done. It's awesome! After the strange day I had, it's a sight for sore eyes.
Jeanie - That's gotta be discouragin'! I sure hope it's not the M word again. My prayers are agoin' w/ya. & yuck all that water. What a thing ta deal with.
Sue - I'm still thankin' God for the good news. I think I'll come & sit in the RV & have some o' those cookies & have a cupa tea. Sigh
Anael - Please show us your li'le garden.
Janie - Those prairie crocus are darlin. My flowers are just dryin' up & not bloomin'g very much. I did plant some in Brady in hopes that there is a bit more rain there. I did notice taday, that my Bird o' Paradise is bloomin'. I have an old pict o' that flower some where Hmmmm let me see.
    Yes here it is.

This isn't the same Bird o' Paradise that is tropical. This is a very ugly bush w/tiny li'le leaves & grows very scraggly. but when it blooms.... well just git outta here! I haven't checked ta see if my cactus is bloomin' yet. It's in the alley so I don't git out there very often.
QE - I bet that your new machine is purrin' right along for ya real soon.
Well it looks like I wrote a book. I do feel better though. Thanks ya'll for lettin me vent.

Janie--Thanks for the compliments on my quilt. Yes, I use my walking foot with the decorative stitches...as long as your foot has an opening for the needle to go back and forth it will work.

QE--Congrats on the new machine. A D4P will be a good first project. Are you doing squares or rectangles like Mirabelle showed us? Yes I know I have 3 "dishwashers" and they do do dishes, but....

Here are a couple pictures of some of the blocks so you can see the stitching....

I did just two rows on the D4P blocks on middle all the way across. The block where you can see the most stitching is actually one of my extra PC quilts. The last picture is my binding.

I like to use the decorative stitch instead of a straight one when SITD b/c a straight stitch never looks straight enough to me.

Dublb--I am so sorry you had "one of those days"!!! That is a pretty flower.

Janie--your crocus is another pretty picture....thanks for sharing.

My lilacs aren't that close to blooming...just leaf buds are growing. I drove to the boat ramp this morning and the water is going down....both picnic tables are out of the water, but the boat ramp is still under water.

Carrie, your BB quilt turned out just beautiful. Great job with the quilting too. Another UFO out of the way!

Dang, I have a lot to do with all my UFO's. At least the Pony Club flimsy is finished, and I'm about half way done piecing the backing!

Wow lots of chatter to catch up on

Great news QNS what a relief

JeanieG sending prayers your way that it is good news and I hope you get your house cleaned up and back to normal quickly

Carriem I love your BB quilt love the setting, love the stitching oh did I say I loved it

Went to patchwork this morning and had a few arguments, so not so happy with a few people, really love being told I'm a liar. Two members, (who do not quilt) and I really don't have a lot to do with, literally told me to my face that I did not quilt the Daisy Raffle quilt. My friend Shannon kept saying yes she quilted it and they kept saying that nobody quilts like that on a domestic sewing machine and Shannon would say well "Karen does". SO next week I am going to set up at a table with my sewing machine a practise square and make them eat their words.. Some people really make my blood boil.

Will post photos of PC and the Daisy quilt that were both hanging in the hall today but first I need to have a cup of coffee.

JanieW ... they are pretty flowers and I'll have to watch for them in the garden centres. Do they multiply much? I love getting things that give me lots of early colour to enjoy. Yes, the machine is home ....... and no name. Have never gone that route! So what do you call your machine?

DublB ... those flowers look like Texas Sunshine coming our way! Looks like you had "one of those days". Tomorrow will be better. Thanks for trying the embroidery on the block ... I guess, you know whether it;s OK or not. I have no clue! Email me if you want to talk further about it. I know nothing about embroidery. Sorry.

CarrieM ... Yes, I am sure your dishwashers like the mechanical one! From what you have shared, they are good kids, and do their part with helping with chores, other than dishwashing!! The D4Ps I am using, the starting blocks are 5-1/2" x 7-1/2". Once sewn together, then I am cutting 1-1/2" either side of the seam. Then do my shuffle. Nice touch with your fancy stitch quilting!!! For sure you will want to get your SITD and/or open toe AccuFeed feet!

Speaking of new machines ........... GGal ... we are all waiting with baited breath to know if you are the proud owner of an 8200 or 8900?

CarrieM and DublB ... too funny ... I had typed in "one of those days" ... and then continued reading to see CarrieM used the same phrase. Goes to prove that GMTA!!!

JeanieG ... will be fun to see the scrappy PC backing assembled!

    MiraB ... oh what a sad day! Some people are outright stoooopid and say stoooopid things with no thought. And to think all that work you did in quilting it .............. is for their benefit, and NOT your quilt. That would annoy me even more, than if it had been my own quilt. Not that I would have been pleased. I'm not sure I would even bother setting up a demo for them when they are so small BTW ... Cheers to Canuck Shannon for supporting you. This makes my blood boil ... so can only imagine yours! Have a coffee ... maybe something stiffer? {{{{HUGS to you!!}}}}}

    Good Night Ladies!!!

So sorry Mirabelle for those unkind remarks. What nerve some people have, and after all the work you did to make and quilt that beautiful quilt!

Glad you got your new machine QuiltE! Have you sewn anything on it yet???? We get so use to our old machines, anything new really is hard to get used to. I think as we get older it is even harder to change gears and remember something new. You will probably be fumbling around for a while!!!

What a sweet picture, Anael; she is growing!! So nice to see a picture of the sew grands!

Mirabelle, do not pay attention to the peanut section; there seems to be one or two in every crowd, just quietly show them wrong and be as sweet as sugar to them....that really kills them. Too bad their Mothers did not teach them better manners. Guess you are soo talented, they just cannot believe it.!! Shannon sounds like a very good friend, a priceless one, ready to set the world back to right. Anger is so negative; turn it into a positive like lemonade from lemons.

Lovely pictures of 'Spring' showing up here; From Texas to Canada. Beautiful. Give the bluebonnets another month, Dublb, and they will bloom. Truly a great story with the flowers, Janie. Need to quilt them into a quilt for the family.

Good news for QNS. Thanks fir the tea and cookies!
Praying Jeanie gets a similar report next week and that everything can be dried out.
All the spring flowers are so pretty. They are lasting so much longer this spring since it's so cool here. We're starting to see green leaves on the trees although it will be another week or two before the canopy is full.
Mirabelle...take the disbelief as a compliment. Those poor ladies are comparing what you do on your DSM to a LA! They are limiting themselves by their attitude and always paying someone else to finish their quilts. I'm assuming they piece, right?
carrie...you BB quilt really turned out great. I like the way that you varied the stitching too.
DD...way to go with the machine. It pays to be handy with tools in the toolbox.
Anael...such a precious picture. You would never know how tiny Isa once was. Thanks for posting.
QuiltE....have fun with your new machine. Reason and emotion mixed and I did come home yesterday with the 8200. It's bigger than the hole for my sewing table so it's currently setting on top but it doesn't affect how it sews. It's so quiet and with the accufeed foot on, keeping a straight seam is so easy. What actually sold me was when she put on the FMQ foot and I could make reasonably round loops. Mine will never be as nice as Mirabelle's but I will no longer hesitate to work with it more. Carrie I have a couple feet that didn't come with my machine that I would like to give you. The FMQ bobbin holder, the quarter inch foot, the FMQ foot and I also have a single hole plate but I don't know if it fits the 6600. Check with your dealer about it and let me know. Today I really should work outside but I know it won't keep me from a little stitching. Tomorrow a few of us from class are going to Arthur, IL for a quilt show. It's in Amish country so their will be many interesting things to see besides quilts!

Anael, beautiful picture. You both bring an instant smile.

Mirabelle, that was an unpleasant experience. QNS is right. Kill them with kindness if you can. Take it as a back handed compliment that your quilting was so well done that you couldn't possibly have done it on your DMS. You know it was so just revel in your talent and let them go drown in their negativity.

QuiltE those crocus will likely not show up in any garden centre as they are wild. I got them from a lovely gentleman at the farmers' market. He goes out to the fields and collects the seeds from the wild plants. I also got some lady slippers from him but they are not even close to popping through. I don't name my machines, but I have called them names occasionally, but I can't say what on this polite thread.

Gardnergal, oooh another new machine. Lots of fun. I remember when I got mine a few years ago in June and I was torn between being outside and playing with the machine. Have fun in Arthur!

DD good to know your kids are not your dishwasher. Good for you. There is balance with kids helping out as opposed to being your slaves. Ask me how I know.

Bev, Your embroidered block is really neat. Also loved your pics of the blue bonnets. I really does look dry where you are.

I have the 5 year old twins coming over for the morning to I must go.

Have a happy day, all whether it be stitching or gardening or whatever your heart desires.

QuiltE..Congratulations on your new machine!!!! You'll have alot of fun with it...

    Jeanie,Hope you get good news...

Anael, Isa is so beautiful..they way the two of you look at each other...something special.....

Carriem, I have to try my walking foot doing what you did.. I know I can do a zig zag...I'm not sure about the back 'n forth...

DublbB and Janie...pretty flowers...All the Azaleas are in bloom here in NC..They will be coming into bloom when I go home to NJ...Bev, one of the reasons I put the quiltville quilt to bed was because of all the little pieces...especially the bias ones...
I was looking for my usb stick to see what designs are small enough to use on QuiltE's square and I can't find it...Yuk...

Carrie...you're another woman that amazes me...the BB Quilt turned out great...Nice touch on the DP4 blocks...All that stitching.....

Oh Anael, she is the sweetest thing! I just dearly love babies. Just look at her eyes as she takes in her surroundin's. such a sweet face. As far as the li'le block goes, I did take the paper off 'cause I din't want ta have that paper w/all it's acid trapped inside o' the stitches. I used tear away stabilizer & used 505 ta attach the block ta it. I guess I should have sewed all around the li'le block, on ta the stabilizer, ta keep it taut. (The block was smaller than the hoop.) Ya'll learn from my mistakes OK?
Sue the blue bonnets can't bloom if they never seeded out. It was way too dry & most o' 'em didn't even come up. Maybe next year.
GG - It's wonderful that ya got your new machine. I bet ya git as good as mirabelle in no time.
Honchey - Aren't those li'le pieces the pits? I sure hope ya find the USB stick soon.
