Jeanie, it's a hassle to do all that but I would try and do it 3-4 times a day. Not being able to use your fingers is such a problem, oh well you know that yourself!
Update on the twins: Isa was gaining weight very fast but today they told my DS and DDIL she's retaining fluid also and on meds. Otherwise she's doing ok.
The plastic surgeon visited Bram twice, he (or she) cut open his arm because of the infection. No need of surgery yet, maybe later, they don't know. He's still on the ventilator. The day before yesterday they tried to get him off, he managed to breath on his own for about 1 hour but had to go back on the ventilator. They're trying with meds now to get him off because his lungs are already damaged from being so long on the ventilator
My DS told me one of the nurses said to him today she needed to speak to Grandma.........
She wants to know where all the lovely fabrics are from as she has been looking here but can't find them.My DS told her about the flannel brigade

Thanks for the anniversary wishes. We celebrated by filing our yearly taxes!
Not exactly my first choice but we got through it without any major disruptions.
OK I hope your DH gets some relief. There is nothing worse than backpain in my book. It limits almost everything else. Glad you have the grands to help you today at least.

Jeanie...I hope you get more flexibilty back...and yes, it's not easy growing old but it's still a good alternative.

Here's a UFO that I finished Friday. I was asked a couple of months ago to make tab valances for a friend for her window over the sink and in the breakfast area. I had gotten down to the last tabs and top stitching and she said there was no hurry since they didn't have the blinds up and and then were gone for a month. Finishing them has given me back one entire shelf in my cabinet. So glad they are done! The thin accent and center of the dresden are really a bright lime green. Oh my Gardnergal, that valence is stunning! I just love how you made them. Ideas for my sewing room!!! I have the plantation shutters, but have not gotten around to making a valence. Gosh even those colors would look great in my room! Did you use a pattern, or design it yourself?

JeanieG ... Glad you found your fabric. Now to wait for it to arrive! RE your forgetting to do your therapy ... when I had to put in my eye drops hourly (24/7) I carried a timer and set it each time. A few minutes here and there, doesn't seem to matter much, but when it's supposed to be hourly, you soon miss out on several of the treatments over the day. Now it's just kind of a routine, that when I need meds on a regular basis, I just do it. Now, it's my phone I set, as it's with me 24/7. It's important for you to make it a priority, please?
Anael ... I laughed when I read "the flannel brigade" ... did he go on and tell about the PseudoGrannies and their SewGrands? While the two of them fight their way along, I bet you are all so thankful that you are so close to a hospital that can provide such intense care for them. That is a blessing in itself.
GGal ... My Oh My ... what a lot of work you put into them. Will make for a cheery breakfast room and kitchen. I hope your friends are impressed with what you have done for them.

Oh wow. I just got back from sledding with my son and his three sons. I am boggled by how much we chatter on here. I can't keep up.

QuiltE... Canada Post...sigh. I mailed yours the same day as the others to the US so how can it not be there yet? Ack. I got a 5k run in this am. I am trying to build up to 10 k to run with my DIL for Ronald McDonald House in May, but I don't think my wonky knee is going to co-operate. I can do 7k comfortably, but much more than that and the knee starts to protest. Regarding the Brier, I was born and lived in MB until 2005 when we moved out here to be closer to the kids and grands. I consider myself a Manitoban first so my heart will always be there. I hope for the Blue Bombers in the CFL, too, altho somedays I wonder why!
JeanieG... Have you tried Vitamin D3 for your arthritis? Talk to your Doctor , maybe do a bit of research, but since I started taking 5000 units /day in the winter, the arthritis in my hands has improved by leaps and bounds. Might be worth looking into. It's not expensive.
Aneal.... I still marvel at how your darling twins fight that good fight. I look for info from you each time I log on and am always so pleased to hear relatively good news.

Ggal thanks for the info on the Jinny Beyer newsletter, I did read it and then deleted it, so no first block for me, ooops might make one block twice, who will know
My embroidery machine and sewing machine are set up that I can have the embroidery machine humming away and sew at the same time. When I need to change thread I just have to swivel my chair.
QuiltE I did not think to extend the chain into the border, I was thinking of a 2 inch border in the background fabric and then a 4 inch border of piano keys using all the fabrics that are in the blocks, hmmm have to think about it. Yes it is for my DD's birthday which is on the 31st of this month so better make up my mind..
Anael I like the white background to go with your soft fabrics. Can't wait to see another photo of the Grandbabies, I laughed when I read about the flannel brigade, I wonder what the nurse thought as she was told where it all came from.

What size block will this make? When I do the math using a 2.5" centre and 1.25" strips it comes out at 11.5 and adding another round makes it 13" unfinished. What am I doing wrong?

Janie...I might have figured it wrong. I only got up to row 4 which was 7 1/2 inches finished and added strips on my ruler. I will freely admit that I can be mathematically challenged but refiguring it just now...4 more strips would be just where you wound up...too much. Any help in this group? Do I just make the middle square larger? How large?
