I hope all your Christmas Day was very nice to all of you. Our Christmas 'gifts' will last long after Christmas. I canned 14 quarts of chopped turkey and broth for noodles later. The new dishwasher is ordered on the 29 th and will be installed in the first of the New Year.

Completing the red, white and blue throw today and it will be quilted on Monday and n the mail by Wednesday before Ashley's Wedding, so they can take it back to his Army base in Georgia. ( fingers crossed that I can do that.)

May the day and week be good to all of you. Carrie, I hope you will update us after your road trip on Tuesday.

I too hope that all of ya'll had a very Merry Christmas!
The weather was just wonderful. 71*F for the last couple of days w/no wind thus no asthmatic cough! It is supposed to be a bear tomarrow though. Sleet, freezing rain, & 3" to 6" of accumulated snow. We never have accumulated snow! Alright not never but soooo very seldom!

Had a very quiet Christmas which was very nice and peaceful. Another nice day here, MrJan and son are golfing! I'm working on FWS 1930s blocks and not happy with how all my blocks look together. I've done them in batiks, very scrappy but it looks very crappy to me. Hopefully I'll find a neutral color for sashings and that will tone it down.

JanRN, I bought the 'lightest' of batiks that I could, for DJ that is not happening, so it will go well with the new FW. Just a hint of blue or green in it, but mostly white. I think it will make ideal slashing in FW. Maybe something similar would work for you?

That is if I don't use it somewhere else first. LOL! Trying to get several local quilters here before the New Year and let them chose their scraps from the top of the guest bed...what does not go, will go into file 13. Its clean up time. I have been 'gonna' use them for a long number of years..time to let someone else use them..

That will make more room for new fabric in the new year....nice resolution for the new year, I think! LOL!

I spent today reading a book and still have my PJ's on... No sunshine today it's been very dismal.. the only labor for today is to make dinner..No leftovers for dinner tonite..definitely for tomorrow..
Hope everyone celebrated the way they wanted to and enjoyed the day...

I had eight for dinner yesterday, and 18 for dessert and gift exchange. Fun to see all the grandkids enjoy each other so much. We have seven grandchildren between 18 and 26. They sure have fun reminiscing about things that have happened in their lives. My two great granddaughters were both here and it was such fun to watch them play together! They are 2 and 2 1/2. Today I just kicked back and sewed on Clue 5 of the Bonnie Hunter Mystery. I still have half of Clue 4 to finish. Our weather here is clear and chilly. It topped at 64* today, nights are in the low 40's, so not too bad. It sounds like everyone had a great Christmas!

QNS, your batik description seems like it would be a lovely solution for a background for Jan's blocks. The handy thing with quilts is that someone usually likes them. When we don't like it ourselves, we can give to someone who says they do like it, which make room in the house for starting a new one for ourselves.

I sewed several of my FW blocks together. I set them on point in various solid colors. Since I've made a quarter of the blocks, I thought I'd set them, in order to have it be less of a task at the end when all the blocks are completed. I don't know what to put on the back. The idea for that isn't coming to me...

We had a dust of snow this weekend that's melted already. It's been unseasonably warm in Michigan so far this winter-- fodder for people who espouse the global warming theory. I don't. There was a change in the earth's axis recently reported and I wonder if that made a difference by pointing us more toward the sun.

Carriem, looking forward to pictures of your fabulous star quilts! And QNS, your red, white, and blue one!

One throw of Red, white and blue, Pinwheel on point is done...except the LA work with batting and backing. Local LA Lady called me, her shaft broke in her LA...so no progress until she gets it fixed. She will find out Wednesday, when and if they can get it fixed.

I had thoughts of going ahead on FW with the templates glued to cardboard, so I ran the reminder of the 99 block templates, only to discovered I had already done that. Second step is gluing the templates on to light card board, which is moving very slowly.

Dh took by Bi-folding closet doors down so I can see into the closet and move totes in and out easier. Also see what is there in each one. Hoping the local quilting gals will get to come this week and clear the guest bed of all fabrics there, plus some other fabric not on the pile yet.

Storms are predicted to move in tomorrow, rain, ice, snow mixture. Hope it misses us. Seems to be headed South of us or North right now. Sounds like every one had a wonderful Christmas...now to ready ourselves for the new year. Any New Year Resolutions?

QNS - next time you print templates, get a ream of cardstock. If you print directly to the cardstock it saves a gluing step for you! No problem with the cardstock printing on any of my printers, and it is easy to trace around.
