"cheap" vs "inexpensive"

at my house it's called being "dutch" as in "it's not that i'm dutch (though i am of dutch ancestory), or anything, but i'm not paying $___ for _____... fill in the blanks...
last conversation was with youngest dd wants 59.98 for sketcher sandals... 3 words for her GET A JOB...
cause, not that i'm dutch or anything, but....

My mother was the same way. She would always say don't say cheap, say it's inexpensive!! I had an ebay store for several years and that was my "slogan" It read: Our bargains aren't cheap - - - they're inexpensive. My slogan was in rememberance of my mother. Even today when my kids use the word "cheap" I'll correct them and say "inexpensive"!!

In the 50+ years of knowing my mother, I don't think I ever saw her take so much as a sip of wine. We're just not drinkers.
One day, jokingly, my mother said she could get drunk on one sniff of the cork. "Oh, a cheap drunk!" someone said. "No," she replied, "an inexpensive one!"
