I use deep breathing exercises to relax before sleep. I sleep well at night, and if I wake, I read. My husband says he sleeps well because he has a pure heart and a clear conscience.... He trained himself to sleep any time he could while he was in the army. All people are different.

i resorted to hrt for the hot flashes..lowest possible dose, & only take every other day... makes the flashes bearable...reduces the risks involved in taking them..
also, i take melatonin (sp?) everynite.. makes a huge difference. i sleep thru the night... i hadn't done that in years.

Most men are able to compartmentalize better than most women. It is considered a "male trait" to delineate, or to separate things into catagories,a "female" trait to synthesize, or to see the over-all picture and put things together. I think we, as females, have a harder time putting our thoughts about things into little rooms in our minds and keeping the door closed.

Personally I stay awake because "men just drop off as soon as they lay down and snore the night away" and it irritates me. Sometimes I purposefully go to bed 15 min earlier than he does and get a head start. My DH worked different shifts for 20 years and can fall asleep anytime or place he desires (and sometimes when he doesn't do it on purpose). If I happen to fall asleep for a few minutes during the afternoon I am usually awake until about 2 am. Ann in Tn
