Yup, ancient here, too. I don't remember sweet cigs either. But I remember going to the dairy to buy milk when I first got married.... I'd scoop the cream off the top and make butter out of it. We had milk delivered, too but it didn't have the cream on the top.

Progress isn't so wonderful after all...... loved those years.

I only remember 8 of them. But we didn't have a movie theater/outdoor or indoor, nor did we have any coffee houses or malt shops where I grew up.

There were no fast food places in the area until after I moved away.
The post office was the living room of a lady's house.
The town had no schools, no churches - had to go to the next town (municipality) for those. The church we went to was 17 miles away!

And in the winter when the roads were covered with snow (2 - 3 feet of it) and ice - we took the snow mobiles instead of the cars.

I remember one lady who went into labor who could not get to the hospital via the main road - they took her there by snow mobile ----- over the frozen lake to get there!

Ah, so many memories of childhood and the good 'ole days.

I don't remember the sweet cigarettes, but all the rest. We, too, were really poor, but didn't know it because everyone we knew was in the same category. Thanks for the memories

my husband always said I was older than dirt......also having "ice blocks" delivered for ice-box, phone #'s without area code, parents first # of 49J was increased to 549J as more phones were added to the party line. I still would like to be dropped into Greenfield Village to reside, as long as I had my mom's White treadle to sew on.....how would "kids" today survive with a nation wide power outage ?????
