Totally agree. I use my self cleaning oven all the time and I leave the racks in.

You have more faith in the manufacturer than I do. And, yes, ovens have caught on fire when running the self cleaning feature. Just google it. Any time you have temps that high, there is the possibility of a fire.

Any advice on the glass window? I would love for that to be cleaner.
I've had great success with a well dampened SOS Pad. I go gently and it leaves no scratches.

My oven manual says to clean the glass with Soft Scrub. It works well.
Soft Scrub works well & Magic Eraser for some stubborn spots.

I wonder if this would also work on cast iron. The last oven I had would not open after the cleaning stopped. Had to buy a new stove. So far I have not had any problem with the new stove.

If you wait until the oven has a lot of buildup then the smell is bad.

You can clean glass very well with DRY baking soda. It can take some elbow grease if the glass is very dirty. I usually vacuum up the residue when I'm done then you can wipe with a damp cloth to finish cleaning. This also cleans chrome very well. I use this method on my toaster oven all the time(well, not as often as I should LOL).
My oven door glass is dirty on the inside, on the back of the glass. I have asked the company how to get it apart to clean it, but nobody knows how to do that.

Also, I would be inclined to question putting cookie sheets and such in the oven. Are you sure they will stand up to such heat? Grills, I'm sure, would be OK there, but other pans are not so sturdy.

For instructions on cleaning the oven glass, go to familyhandyman.com and enter "how to clean oven door glass" in the search box near the top of the page. Family Handyman is a neat magazine which I took for several years. Now to get my husband to help me with this project in his "spare time"😏
