I've had my Kindle for almost 2 years now. I love it--but it does wind up being a bit spendy. The book prices continue to climb ( and that's the true of all book sellers). I still use the library but I read a lot in bed and nothing beats a slim, weightless reader for that!

I also like how I can make the type a little bigger and no glare from the headboard light I use.

Everyone, remember this: there are TWO different Nooks. The nook Color is back lit, like a computer screen or phone. The nook Classic is NOT. Its just like the Kindle, in that you need a light source to read by, because it has the eInk screen ( LOVE my nook classic!!!! Love to borrow from the library,--can't do that with a kindle-- I have about 350 books on it currently, and have scads more room, plus the nook has a slot for an SD card and the Kindle does not!)

You can also buy books from sources other than BN for the nook (but not from Amazon) and with the Kindle you can buy just from AMazon..

What ever you choos,e just remember to make it a lovely carrier!

That is one reason my kids got me the NOOK, I can borrow books as well as buy. Than my daughter filled mine up with many books from her Kindle that she has found over the last year since she bought hers.

Here is my NOOk carrier, just finished it the other day. Fun to do with all my fancy stitches that you can hardy see!

rather read a book, ok so my sons also convinced me about you can have thousands of books on that, but I read one book at a time, and with my sewing,crocheting, bible studies, who has time to do that? but Get a kendal, I think you would like it.... maybe I can get one someday, 3,000 books at my fingertips! interesting!

My husband got me a Kobo for Christmas. I love it and even took it to the beach in Jamaica. What I like is that it is so compact that I can pop it in my purse and take it with me to doctor's appts etc.

I just got a Kindle after about 3 weeks of researching and talking to 2 of my kids who have e-readers. I like my Kindle. I can download books from it or order them online and it will automatically download. I like that I can change the font to big so I can see it. It's lighter than a book so I can read in bed without straining my hands. There are thousands of books out there that you can download for free - if you like classics. Kindle books are .mobi files and it also reads .pdf. While Barnes and Noble's Nook and Border's Kobi are ePub files, so you would need to download a converter software to read them on your Kindle. Buying e-books cost about the same at Amazon as at Barnes and Noble and Borders. Check out the feature of all three and decide what you want. Then get it and you will love it.

I am thinking of getting a Kindle as well. What is the main difference between the Wi-Fi and the Wi-Fi + 3G (besides the price)? When you download books from your computer can you store them on a thumb drive or must they be directly loaded to the Kindle?

I love my Kindle. The screen does not glare,I can adjust the print size and is easy to carry anywhere. I read much more than I used to even though I have two book cases full of books. Think I will get rid of them and make more room for----fabric maybe

I have had my Kindle for almost 2 years and love it. Books were taking up a LOT of space in my house and getting hard to resell for even a $1.

I spend VERY little on books as there are so many free ones available. Right now I have about 100 books waiting for me and they were ALL free. The authors that I just must buy get read right away of course.

I doubt if I spent $50 on ebooks last year and I haven't picked up a real book to read since getting the Kindle. MIL still gives me books and I just pass them on to friends right away.
