Goodness...I wish our WM had fabric...42 bolts would be a nice start! I am so glad you went on your break!!!

When I fabric shop I always have a cart full of fabric bolts. I take a few at a time to the cutting table I ask if I can put the fabric back for them while they are cutting. I always fold my fabric myself as I use the boards. I take the boards with me. All I have to do is place the fabric on my shelf when I get home. And neatly folded fabric on the board doesn't look like a lot of fabric in the bag at all. LOL

I used to work for Hancock fabric and I loved when quilters came in - I would rather skip my break than miss cutting and talking to them....needless to say I didn't work there for the money - I usually spent as much as I made but I do have quite the stash.

I love it when the cutter takes an interest and asks questions about what I'm going to do with the fabric. I used to be a department manager at Michaels and learned as much as I could about every craft we had supplies for. I would read the backs of all the glues when I stocked the shelves and volunteer to make store samples so I could learn new products to be able to answer questions and help customers. The Michaels in my neighborhood doesn't seem to be bothered with customer service. The Joanns is alright, but it's such a mess all the time, probably because they keep a bare minimum of staff on duty, poor ladies never have time to get things done, having to run from cutting table to register all the time. I'd love to work there and organize fabric for them as long as I didn't have to run a register . My Walmart stopped carrying fabric, then got some back, but it's all stuff I wouldn't use, so I never go there anymore.

at JA we have one lady that will have 4 or more shopping carts piled high and it can take one person cut 5 hours she comes in every few months

I have to tell you about my trip to Target today. I rarely go to Target as I don't care for the quality of their clothing, but my grandaughter registered there for her baby things. She is due in August. A sales associate logged on for me to get the printout I needed to select my purchase. The machine was out of paper so she suggested that we go to the first floor to use another machine. She printed it out and then we both went upstairs to the baby dept. I took the list of items and proceeded to look around. She said she would stay with me and assist me. To be honest, I did not really like the idea of her staying with me, as I preferred to look around by myself. But what could I do? Even though I would have liked to browse, I couldn't, so I told her I really was inerested in purchasing a larger item. I asked about the Graco "Pack n Play". It is a type of playpen, with some type of changing area that is suspended in the middle of the pen. There is also storage of some kind on the side. She put the box in the basket and we both went down to the first floor again. She even checked me out at the register there. They also got someone to put the purchase into my car. I was so impressed with her service that I intend to write a letter to Target about her.

Glad to hear you did it with good spirit instead of complaint, you must have a blessing coming your way! My WM is getting in more fabric and it is very good quality overall. I picked up some clearance quilting fabric for $2. and $3 a yard over the weekend. Wish I had bought more.

wow i wish you worked at our walmart they act mad if they have to stop and cut 2 or 3 bolts and they have no pride in how their dept is laid out and kept up its a mess. to be honest a group of us that quilt together get in the car and drive 45 min to another walmart in a small town where they have their fabric laid out where you can find it and are happy to see you and cut your fabric. i think they even get better stuff than our walmart although who could tell by the way our walmart employees put it out. las time we went the lady who usually is there was off and the store mgr cut fabric for us as she was working nearby and we had a blast she cut and chatted with us about 40 min as we all 4 had alot of bolts in our buggys. its easy to see why we drove the 45 min instead of the 10 min to our walmart although our hubbys think were batty lol.
