Oh You are SOOO not the only one. My husband hates that it takes time away from something i could be "helping" him with. :( but i love him just the same

My husband enables and supports me. He build me a gigantic studio above the garage, empties out his wallet when I head to the quilt store, pays ebay fabric bills, buys vintage sewing machines and fixes them for me. He brags about my quilts and shows them off to everyone.

When I discovered the Vermont Quilt Show, he drove me and every spring, he would ask when we were going to Vermont. Then offered me an electronic sewing machine. What I miss the most, was his way to tell me I love you .....because.....you old-fashioned!
    Aaaahhh he sounds so sweet.

I used to sew most of my clothes to save money and to fit better--I am very short. I used to do counted cross-stitch; all my DH ever said was "those sure do take a lot of time". He has always worked hard and provided for our family. He fishes and hunts, plays golf, and rebuilds vehicles at a fraction of the cost of buying one off the lot. He is truly a jack-of-all-trades, one-of-a-kind, well-respected person in our town. He does NOT GET my passion for sewing. I'm also an Avon rep. so my profit subsidizes my habit and totally paid for my Janome 6600 I bought 2 yrs. ago. I love to make seasonal table runners, wall hangings, and lap quilts. Neither of my daughters have any interest in it, but they respect my interest. Both of my sons have absorbed their dad's mediocre acceptance of the hobby I enjoy the most. I am so in awe of all of you ladies who have husbands who take you to fabric stores and encourage you to buy whatever you want. If my DH did that, I would have to say "WHO are YOU, and what have you done with my husband?!" And I'll still keep him. :)

when we bought a house for weekends/staycations, he understood that 1: I needed a sewing studio and 2: I needed a machine for the house that was the same as the one in the apartment (so I could bring the same project back and forth, of course!). He just doesn't "get" the quilts...doesn't seem to understand how they are art. I appliques a large 1957 chevy then had it framed for his office. I thought it was fabulous. so did my friends. however, all he said was "it's OK." As clients visited, they would ooh and aah over it and he would report such to me but still felt "it's ok" and didn't understnad what the others saw. Given that, he does ask me to make quilts as gifts for some of his clients. And he is willing to sit with me in my room while I sew. So, I guess it's all good

I finally asked my dh what he thought about my quilting, and he just stammered. I obviously threw him a curve! Basically he doesn't think much about it one way or another as long as it keeps me happy. :D
