I was so thrilled when one of my granddaughters got her an apartment and needed a bed...Yep, you guessed it...I volunteered to give her one of mine in a bedroom that I didn't need...Welll I gave her the dresser, bed and nightstand..but I kept the chest...for what you ask?? OH for fabric of course..I moved my ironing board to that room and 2 stackable plastic drawers to that room.. Set up my keyboard in there...and cleaned the closet out for more fabric storage...so now my sewing room is not so cluttered...Now I have 2 rooms for quilting and sewing....I thought that was a pretty good plan...If I have company, there is always the other bedroom. So got to be careful that room doesn't get filled up..When I was moving stuff into the room, I took a lot of fabric and sorted it by colors and it was all in the middle of the floor...DH says.."You sure have a lot of fabric, what do you intend to do with it all???" I just looked at him, and shook my head like "I don't know" he just smiled and went on....but he is very complimentary when I finish a quilt and show it to him..so I guess I have it pretty good...no complaints...He sees how much I enjoy it...we both are retired so life is good...and the chest that I kept...its full now...but I love fabric....that's my story and I'm sticking to it....

I am just the opposite....I seem to buy (compulsive) fabric that I think is pretty, but it is always just a tad less than I need when I start a project. My husband always asks me "Why don't you buy more???" I guess I should listen, huh, and just get a 1/2 yard more than I originally thought to buy, just in case!.

I wonder if they could train special dogs (that could double as quilt inspectors) to come sniff us out when we get buried in our fabric? Hofffman Hounds? Moda Mutts?

For instance, when I can pick up a yard of fabric at Connecting Threads for $2.00+ why wouldn't I pick up 10 yards at a time?! It's important to be thrifty :0). What a rush it is to tear into a new order of fabric. I'm on a first name basis with the postmaster. So then what do I do, tuck the new purchase(s) with the rest of the stash and start the cycle all over again. I have two tubs of fabric so full, neither will hold another piece of fabric, plus I almost get a hernia trying to move them around. I'll never live long enough to use it all, but I sure am having fun. Everyone needs to believe in something.....I believe I'll shop for more fabric!
I LOVE your attitude! "I believe I'll shop for more fabric"... LOL! That should be on our Fabric Addict Nation flag, don't 'cha think? We need a motto...

Now, Lindy, you can "rewatd him" all you want to as long as said "reward" doesn't involve you parting with ANY of your stash!

I know what you mean about DHs not knowing how many goodies we have. One day mine was looking at my PILES & he said (with a perfectly straight face so I assume he was serious) "I'll bet you have a couple of thousand dollars worth of stuff there". I nearly spit my teeth out... LOL! Uh yeah... in that one pile I prolly do have that much. But shhhhhh... keep it on the DL!

Hey, as my Mother used to say, it keeps you off the streets! LOL! Unless you're on your way to LQS!
