You know to me, this is ridiculous! Keep the fabric, I have plenty. This is just like buying a cookbook and then not being able to sell the chocolate chip recipe at a bake sale.

I paid for the fabric ergo I can use the fabric as I choose! If you don't want me to "use" the fabric than don't sell it to the public period. I didn't steal anything from you so suck it up. I just saying. Sounds like kindergarten to me " my toys are for me only I don't want to share" Quilters are loving and caring people, not money grubbing bandits. We don't get rich selling quilts especially in this economy!!!!!

I think we should be able to make what we want to and be able to sell it. We buy the material and patterns to make items to sell or use it for gifts. As long as we are not copying that pattern or material to sale, just the item we make from it.

I will refuse to buy their fabrics if this is what will happen. When they no longer see their fabrics being sold it will be too late for them. They can go broke as far as I'm concerned.

Ditto on this one. I just stay away from all that wierdness. Anyway they are more costly as well.

NOT an urban rumour! Sadly, it is true, especially with sports team's stuff.

I guess that means you can EAT their fabrics, just don't sell anything you make with them! Utterly ridiculous!!!

I think that's the lawsuit I posted about earlier, in the thread that got closed. The quilter who is being sued is Emily Cier. If you Google her name, you will likely find her blog with information from her end of the lawsuit. I think "Scrap Republic" is the book in question. Here is a link to it on Amazon:

If this is the book, it's especially ironic that it is a book of patterns for using up scraps of fabric.
