My paternal grandmother hand pieced and quilted all of the time. She also made braided rugs for each grandchild (there were 27 of us)and crocheted. My mother sewed clothes and tatted. A little crocheting, but not as much.

I remember my Mother sewing out of necessity for our large family of mostly boys. Therefore she was always just patching jeans and elbows of their shirts. My sister was a wonderful seamstress and made me most of my clothes. An Aunt crocheted but no quilts at all. I got my love from a sister in law who quilts. I pray that one of my four daughters will have an interest some day.

There were no quilters in my family. My mom did lots of sewing, knitting, embroidery and crocheting and taught these skills to both me and my sister. I am teaching my 8 year old granddaughter as much as I can. Lots of fond memories.
